We went to a dinner as a group and had a $500 bill. We tipped $40. We were happy we can be able to give our server something, but her reaction was the opposite. She told us she assumed we're going to give her at least $120. When we asked for the manager, she said she was just joking, but she wasn't smiling at all. Idk, but is $40 tip enough for $500 bill? I just feel like expecting $120 is not realistic. ~Lea Robertson

Just saw the news : Los Angeles Unified just put Superintendent Alberto Carvalho on paid administrative leave after the FBI raided his home and offices. TEARS OF JOY. Real ones streaming down my face right now. Because I was a teacher in Miami Dade County Public Schools when he ran the whole thing. And this man destroyed me. While teaching in Miami Dade, I experienced a serious incident at school that left lasting scars. I did not feel protected by the district. The situation led to legal proceedings and ultimately my departure. I signed an agreement during that time that I regret deeply. It silenced me for years. But today I am finally saying it out loud. THANK YOU CARVALHO. You forced me to leave that broken educational system in this country. And it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I went back to school. I earned a second Masters degree in Marketing. I became successful on my own terms : respected, building, creating, and finally free from that toxic machine. The incident made me stronger. It forced me to reevaluate my entire life and walk into the success I have now. Seeing this news simply feels like I can finally turn the page. Alberto Carvalho surrounded himself with ass kissers. Bottom line : everybody knew the game. If you were not aligned with the DEI machine or politically connected, you were not getting hired as an administrator in that county. That’s how it felt, and everybody knew it. He never valued the teachers actually shaping young minds. He only valued loyalty. So yeah. This feels like justice for every single teacher he steamrolled in Miami Dade. Miami Dade educators know exactly what I am talking about. The system failed us. But some of us rose stronger anyway. This one is for every teacher who had to walk away to survive. To hell with the old regime. Carvalho : your time is up.
