FUEL PRICE HIKE TOMORROW ⛽ LOOK: Diesel may rise by Php 2.62 to Php 4.62 per liter, while kerosene may increase by Php 2.22 to Php 4.22. Gasoline adjustments range from a Php 1.00 rollback to a Php 1.00 hike. DOE Secretary Sharon Garin said that if Middle East volatility persists, the agency may announce a single definite adjustment. ‘If things do not settle down… You won’t have any ranges anymore. JUST IN: Meralco announces a rate hike of Php 0.34/kwh due to increased generation charges and taxes for its July billing.

The BSP says the move is meant to keep inflation expectations anchored and limit second-round effects. The Monetary Board adds it is prepared to take further monetary action as needed to ensure that inflation returns to the 3-percent target. @bncdotph

JUST IN: The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas raises its key policy rate by 25 basis points to 4.75%. The central bank attributes the hike to strong inflationary pressures, with elevated global oil and fertilizer prices continuing to push up domestic fuel and food prices.

JUST IN: Meralco announces a Php 0.1488 per kWh increase in its electricity rate for the June billing, driven by higher generation charges. The power distributor says the hike was partly tempered by lower transmission charges. @bncdotph

JUST IN: The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas projects the May 26 inflation rate may settle between 7.1% to 7.9% driven by rising prices of rice, vegetables and meat. The April 2026 inflation rate soared to a three-year high of 7.2%. @bncdotph

JUST IN: The NGCP extends the yellow alert status of the Visayas grid from 5 PM to 10 PM. It says the extension of the yellow alert is due to the significant increase in demand.

LOOK: The Department of Energy (DOE) urges the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines to provide a full disclosure of the tripping of the transmission lines at the Ilijan power complex in Batangas. The DOE says the NGCP failed to promptly declare and report the line trip.

The distribution utility says the lower rate is driven by accelerated refunds, which have led to higher refund rates, the implementation of VAT exemption on indigenous natural gas, the suspension of GEA-All, and a slight reduction in transmission charges. @bncdotph
