Maybe, instead of National Service for 18 year olds they should introduce national service for MPs. They all have to do several weeks volunteering in a school, GP, hospital, care home, social care and police within their first 12 months in office.

At @martinimarie ‘s meet-up I mentioned this idea. What happens when a carer has an accident?! I want it centralised, with proper IDs like you get in work. Linked to your car reg If I have an accident the system ensures my contacts and emergency plan is immediately acted upon.

As an Emergency Medicine consultant in the NHS, I just want to say, to all of our patients across the UK: I'm sorry. We're really trying, I promise. There's just too much to do. And there are not enough resources in the hospitals or in our communities to satisfy demand.
