My Dad hated all of his kids. I do stuff with research. I do stuff with sneakers. Sometimes they both intersect. #GT51

@number_pizza111 Minnesota being on here is funny because it’s like one road.

Not a single person walking or driving by even batted an eye at that screen but I’m supposed to believe New York is a baseball city #ok

@JSHKODNIK Why would recruitment in college be thought of as the future of tennis. I always figured in sports like Tennis and Soccer that if you went to college you likely didn’t have a long future in it.
Like no one cares that SGA went to Kentucky or that Kyrie went to Duke.
English

Calling him anti-foreigner is nonsense. He’s advocating for American player development and asking valid questions about college tennis opportunities. Supporting U.S. athletes isn’t xenophobia…… it’s CARING about the future of American tennis.
Owen@kostekcanu
McEnroe went from posting about college tennis like twice in the last 3 years to posting constantly once he realized he can get the NewsNation crowd with anti-foreigner sentiments Great people are being yelled at for “not belonging” so Americans can get a participation trophy

@Chief494929 @NILnotNLI @MacEngelProf Is that possible in the current legal structure? Or would massive lawsuits need to figure out if this is possible?
English

@CheckAnfro @NILnotNLI @MacEngelProf Gonzaga built their program on them. Illinois has several now. Just should be a limit of one per team. That’s all.
English

Are there too many international students in U.S. NCAA sports? (from @MacEngelProf)
"While it’s all fair, this development is a massive point of frustration for kids, and their parents, who hope to play sports at America’s most prestigious college athletic programs"

English

@jibtie @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept Yes. It does. Because you are saying that anyone who has less academic success than one group should not entitled to be accepted into this academic field.
Which every group has less success that Asian ppl in this space.
English

@CheckAnfro @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept No it doesn’t. That’s not logically entailed from my question at all.
English

At Yale Medical School, a black applicant is 29 times more likely to be invited to interview than an Asian with equally strong academics.
Today, @CivilRights told Yale that its use of race in admissions is ILLEGAL—and that @TheJusticeDept will step in to enforce Title VI.

English

@jibtie @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept This assumes that I think anyone who is not Asian who gets into med school is receiving preferential treatment.
Which I don’t believe that.
English

@CheckAnfro @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept Sure. So if giving preferential treatment to certain races in admittance to medical school and not only valuing merit led to less competent doctors, would you be in favour of this policy or against this policy?
English

@jibtie @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept I don’t care about teams and leagues lifting people up who normally don’t have interest or have trouble with entry.
But I wouldn’t want a player that they thought or knew was going to be bad.
Again, the investment in NBA China does not bother me to lift Asian players.
English

@CheckAnfro @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept So if giving preferential treatment to certain races in admittance to medical school and not only valuing merit led to less competent doctors, would you be in favour of this policy or against this policy?
English

@jibtie @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept If the knew the players were going to be worse for my team I root for, no I would not like this.
English

@CheckAnfro @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept So does that mean YES you would be in favour of the NBA enforcing racial quotas so that each team has to hire a minimum of 20% Asian players and a maximum of 60% black players, or NO you wouldn’t be in favour of this?
English

@jibtie @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept The answer is I wouldn’t support the team I root for signing players that they believe are not going to be good T basketball.
English

@jibtie @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept I’m saying these scenarios aren’t similar.
Your ask is assuming that Asian ppl will be really bad at basketball. Compared to someone who has a massively higher ceiling.
In the medical school scenario. Non-Asian students aren’t an obvious lower ceiling output long term.
English

@CheckAnfro @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept Again, you’re still not understanding. I’m not saying or asking if this is happening in my medical school scenario.
I’m asking if you would support the scenario I’ve given in basketball?
What is the answer to my question? Yes you would support it or no you wouldn’t support it?
English

You can’t pair the two, so Miles who does her best work with the ball in her hands and so does Paige….. who do you take touches from to play them simultaneously? Or does Miles or Paige come off the bench?
Land of Lowlights@LoLowlights
The Dallas Wings passing on Olivia Miles just to pair Paige Bueckers with her UConn teammate & girlfriend Azzi Fudd is company MALPRACTICE. Olivia Miles was the clear cut #1 overall player in the draft and it shows.
English

@jibtie @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept Which in the context of basketball this obviously is not true.
English

@jibtie @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept But this isn’t happening in your medical school scenario. As Black people hover around 8% of admissions.
And the difference in GPA is 3.9 vs Asian peoples 3.99 GPA.
You are arguing that a 20 PPG scorer is obviously a better basketball player than a 19.5 PPG scorer.
English

@jibtie @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept The things being discussed here aren’t comparable, because if players are truly worse GM’s get fired.
But players are recruited to college(which medical school would be more like that) and don’t end up in the NBA a lot.
English

@CheckAnfro @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept Can you answer the following question?
Currently black people make up 80% of the NBA. Asians make up 0.8%
Would you support the NBA enforcing racial quotas with the hiring of less qualified Asian players over more qualified black players to make the NBA 60% black 20% Asian.
English

@Chief494929 @NILnotNLI @MacEngelProf There are 130 of them, which means that every team has .4 international players on them. And most of them are from Canada.
English

@NILnotNLI @MacEngelProf In the Euro league they are limited to one American. College basketball teams should be limited to one foreign player.
English

@jibtie @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept What do you think the investment is for? So that China begins having fandom at a large level at basketball and ultimately we see more players in the NBA.
International players in the NBA has been on their investment bucket for 2 decades. And mostly ppl don’t care.
English

@CheckAnfro @AAGDhillon @CivilRights @TheJusticeDept Not asking about NBA China.
I’m asking if for the NBA/NFL, they should try and decrease the number of black players in the league and increase the number of white/asian players by deliberately choosing less qualified Asian and white players over more qualified black players?
English
