Chips fried in beef dripping were a different object to what passes for a chip today. Walk into a Whitby chippy in 1978. The fryer has been on since 11am. The fat in it is beef dripping, held at 180 degrees by a man in a white apron who has been frying chips since he was fifteen. There are no seed oils in the building. The idea would not occur to anyone. Thick-cut Maris Pipers, ninety seconds in the dripping. Dark gold at the edges, fluffy inside, crisp in a way that sets your teeth against them. Salt. Vinegar. Paper. Two bob. You eat them walking home along the harbour wall. The chip tastes of the chip and also of something underneath the chip, something deeper, something you don't have a name for because you are nine and nobody names it, it is just what chips taste like. That taste was beef dripping. By 2002, 90% of British chippies had switched to rapeseed, palm, or sunflower oil, on the advice of public health officials citing research since quietly retracted. A stable saturated fat used for ten thousand years, swapped for an industrial oil invented in 1911, oxidised at fryer temperatures for twelve hours a day. A seed-oil chip is lighter, flatter. The crust doesn't hold. The flavour stops at the potato. No deeper note. No roast beef on a Friday. Ask a British person under thirty what chips are supposed to taste like and they will describe, with complete sincerity, the chip they have always eaten. A chip their great-grandfather would have considered a practical joke. They cannot miss it, because the reference point was removed from the national palate before they were born. A handful of chippies still fry in dripping. The Magpie in Whitby. A few survivors in Yorkshire, Lancashire, the Black Country. Go. Drive. Queue. Eat them standing up, out of the paper. You will understand, in one bite, what was taken. The cow is still in the field. The suet is still at the butcher. The fryer could be switched back tomorrow. A whole country forgot what a chip was.

Meanwhile in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 English households who are hoping to celebrate St. George’s day by flying the English flag face massive FINES❗️ Councils have ruled that displaying flags could see homeowners charged up to £2,500, and people are adives to follow “local planning regulations.” So if you fly the flag of the your own country, you will be charged up to £2,500 😑

English families wanting to fly the St George’s flag on St George’s Day are now facing fines of up to £2,500. Councils are warning homeowners they must follow strict local planning rules before displaying their own national flag. You can fly pretty much any other flag you like - but show England’s flag on England’s day and they’ll hit you with a massive penalty. This country has gone completely mad.

@dshensmith @AgentP22 Agree with you, however nothing seems to be done to combat such situations with many within such systems seemingly letting it happen with no recourse from hose within the system. What is it going to take....

This has been verified as true... “Lab-grown chocolate is coming to shelves in 2027. Oreo, Cadbury & Toblerone are already funding the Israeli biotech producing it because a lab is cheaper than a farm.” “Cadbury has been quietly replacing your chocolate — This dairy milk isn't legal chocolate in 27 countries, the cocoa butter was replaced with vegetable fat, a cheap blend of 6 industrial oils. What remains is diluted with polyglycerol — Soon even that gets replaced, you'll be eating cells grown in a pharmaceutical tank.” Cadbury Dairy Milk (in the UK and many markets) has included vegetable fats (like palm and shea) alongside cocoa butter for years. UK/EU regulations allow up to 5% non-cocoa vegetable fats in chocolate if it meets minimum cocoa solids (20%) and other standards. In America standards are much lower... - For milk chocolate specifically: Only 10% chocolate liquor, 12% milk solids & 3.39% milk fat are required.

Good morning everyone, and happy Friday ❤️ I really enjoyed doing Question Time last night, what an experience. I can see it’s rattled a few of the usual angry lot on here as well… 🤣🤣 What I’ve noticed is the insults ain’t about what I said. It’s the same old stuff. My criminal record, where I went to school… even me Wikipedia page getting changed again. I wish I had a multi millionaire family FYI, then I wouldn’t be working 6 days a week 🤣🤣 Funny how they never add all the good I do in the news and Wikipedia etc. It does make you think, do these people see me as threat to constantly attack me? I’ve made mistakes in my life. I ain’t perfect, never have been. But I’ve owned it, I’ve learned, and I’ve worked every single day to become a better man. And that’s what life is about. I’ve worked hard for everything I’ve got. Nothing has been handed to me. I’m up early pushing every day and I’m looking forward to a pint in the pub once I finish today. But what matters to me the most ain’t the lies online spread about me, it’s real life. I’ve got 14 unbelievable, loyal, hardworking staff, some who’ve been with me since I was 18 years old. This lot have believed in me, and I’ll always back them. I’ve got a loving, happy home. I’ve got a beautiful, kind, caring wife who is the most amazing mum to our children and watching her now she’s 7 months pregnant with our fourth, makes me proud every single day. And my kids… they’re my world. They’re the reason I keep going, no matter what. Because I know what it feels like to have nothing. I’ve been at rock bottom. Sleeping on a pull-out bed on the floor in my mum’s house. No money. No work. Because of my criminal records. I felt lost and like giving up. But I never did. I got my head down. I believed in myself and I built something out of nothing. That’s why I try to spread positivity. That’s why I visit schools, speak to young people, do the Sunday walks, because I want people to know that your past does not define your future. So when the negativity comes online with all the lies and constant digs….. it don’t break me. Because I know who I am. I’m someone who believes in hard work. I’m someone who believes in family. I’m someone who believes in owning your mistakes and becoming better. And I’m someone who believes in this country and its people. We’ve got the greatest country in the world. And I’ll keep going for my family, for my team, and for every single person out there trying to do the right thing. We don’t go home until we’re proud. Have a fantastic Friday. Let’s go and smash it. I love you all ❤️ Bosh❤️
