Green Party leader Zack Polanski really is becoming a favourite of mine. Everytime im feeling down, the latest revelation for the Tit Whisperer comes out and cheers me right up. It now emerges he didnt vote in the elections laat week and isnt even registered to vote. 🤣🤣🤣 He says he isnt registered for safety reasons, but he has also admitted earlier in the week that he didnt pay council tax for ages on his houseboat, so i will let you decide the actual reason. He does not have to resign as mayor to run as a candidate in Makerfield. If he wins in Makerfield he will then stand down as Mayor. If he loses in Makerfield he goes back to being mayor in GM with the next election for the mayor being 2028. There is no legal requirement for him to resign beforehand.

All in a week when Britain’s first quarter growth looks like being the best in the G7; Parliamentary authorities open an investigation into Nigel Farage and the £5 million gift, and Zack Polanski’s tax affairs make headlines. And if Burnham becomes PM, the right wing voices who rubbished Starmer will immediately rubbish Burnham and there will be calls for a General Election - just as Andy Burnham called for a General Election during the 2022 Tory leadership contest. And before we even get to any of that, uncertainty and instability.

Really feels that if Burnham wins Makerfield there could be a Labour coronation. We’ll have never seen a by-election like it before. For all intents and purposes, a direct prime ministerial election, in a single constituency.

@AaronBastani This will be an all or nothing Bi-election, Can reform be beat? Will Andy send the labour party back to the stone ages? Will reform take Manchester? Has Starmer set a trap? 🤔 Reform needs a local candidate.

By-elections are extremely hard, a logistical nightmare & Reform have a mixed record. They won Runcorn, a huge achievement, but only by 6 votes; & lost in Gorton & Denton. Winning in Makerfield, against Labour’s most popular figure, would mean govt is getting single digit MPs.
