@mattjcan Leader of the Nationals thinks coal is a substitute for oil. Never misses an opportunity to cheer for more coal.

We are entering the worst energy crisis since the 1970s. So the NSW Labor Government decides to ban new coal mines 🤦‍♂️ We need to use all the energy we have to keep Australia moving. Labor's priorities are all wrong and that's why our living standards have fallen by more than at any time in living memory. (By the way you can easily convert coal to petrol and diesel.)

@FatEmperor No, that's food for morons. Pretending that combustion engines "do not rely on the environmentally damaging use of non-renewable" resources, just makes you look silly.

@Cheffo987 @birchipboy @Batman2242 He's right. More than half the populations primary source of income is from the taxpayer. This does not mean they are all useless, but many are ranging from the average dole bludger all the way up to the Governor General.

WAKE UP, AUSTRALIA – THIS IS FULL-ON GOVERNMENT CONTROL STARING US IN THE FACE! Instead of firing up our own refineries, unleashing "drill baby drill" on our massive reserves, and securing our fuel independence like any sane nation would, Albo and his incompetent Labor-Green cabal have done the unthinkable: They've set up a taskforce to decide who gets fuel and who doesn't. A bloody taskforce! Bureaucrats in Canberra picking winners and losers while petrol stations run dry and regional Australia grinds to a halt. This isn't crisis management — this is centralised control. This is communism creeping in under the guise of "coordination" and "supply chain resilience." They're not building refineries. They're appointing coordinators to ration what's left! We've let six refineries close over decades, outsourced our fuel security to volatile shipping lanes halfway around the world, and now — surprise! — a Middle East war exposes how naked and vulnerable we are. And their solution? More committees, more talk, more government meddling. This is the path to self-destruction. Albo's Labor-Green Party is dragging us down the road to energy poverty, economic ruin, and total dependence on foreign powers. If we let them keep power, we'll wake up in a country where you need permission slips to fill your tank. Aussies, WAKE UP NOW! If you vote for these bastards again, you're not just asleep — you're actively helping sell out our future.
Anthony Albanese@AlboMP

We’ve set up a new Fuel Supply Taskforce, led by Anthea Harris. Working with states and territories, the taskforce will make sure fuel gets where it’s needed most. It will bring together experts and industry to protect our fuel supply, and make sure we have the latest information on supply and demand.

@van00sa Wouldn't really be much different. They might actually make petrol prices higher. We'd just be importing more oil and less fuel. Still reliant on imports.

Hydrogen is the stupidest, most ridiculous, and most impossible energy alternative. It takes 5 to 10 times more energy than it returns. This has been known since 2004, yet hydrogen refuses to die. It is far from renewable because it contains no energy at all—energy must be forced into it like a battery—and you lose even more when converting it back to electricity. It has the worst energy return of any alternative: far more energy goes in than you ever get back. Consider the process: you first split hydrogen from natural gas or use far more energy to electrolyze it from water, then compress or liquefy it, build extremely expensive and short-lived steel containers and pipelines (since hydrogen embrittles them), and finally deliver it to virtually non-existent hydrogen vehicles. Fuel cell technology remains far from commercial. It is also highly explosive. Hydrogen requires 12 times less energy to ignite than gasoline vapor, so the smallest spark or heat source can turn it into a bomb.

@goodfoodgal They weren't Australian refineries. They were owned by companies. Did you want to nationalise them? Then you'd be here complaining about our "communist Govt.." Your issues should be low PRRT & tax revenue from mining companies, & no east coast gas domestic reservation.

Over the last 20 years, Australia has closed 6 of its 8 oil refineries. We continue to be a country reliant on others for our own prosperity. We should be a super power. Instead we have failed to capitalise on our natural wealth & develop our economic capability.

@birchipboy @Batman2242 So, you're advocating for 50% of the population to lose 50% of their income? Wow, not sure you've thought that through. Nevermind, cause your "% stats" are just made up anyway.

@Batman2242 50% of the population get more than 50% of their income from welfare. They are unfortunately captured and will take a lot to get them back. Just listen to coverage of everything in the media and in conversation with people. “What’s the government going to do..” it’s nanny state

Australia is one of the world's biggest LNG exporters — shipping out around 80–83% of our natural gas production in recent years (that's over 4,500 PJ exported annually in peak periods, with LNG dominating output). Yet on the east coast, where most Aussies live and work, families and manufacturers are still paying wholesale gas prices stuck at $13–15 per gigajoule (producer offers averaged $13.56/GJ in late 2025, retailers pushing $14+ to businesses). That's after years of "easing" from the insane 2022–23 spikes, but still triple what we paid pre-LNG export boom. Blackouts, factory closures, skyrocketing bills — while we export the lion's share to Asia. Now look at Qatar, the undisputed king of LNG (third-largest reserves globally, massive exporter like us). They do it completely differently: domestic supply FIRST. Qatar prioritises cheap, reliable energy for their own citizens and industries before exporting the surplus. Result? Residential electricity costs citizens just ~USD 0.032 per kWh (about 3 US cents, or roughly 5 Australian cents at current exchange). Businesses pay only slightly more (~0.036 USD/kWh). That's powered by their own gas — subsidised heavily for nationals, keeping living costs low and industry competitive. They still dominate global LNG trade and rake in billions, but their people aren't freezing or paying extortionate power bills. Western Australia already has a version of this — a long-standing domestic reservation policy that ensures locals get priority access at reasonable prices. It works. So why is federal Canberra dragging its feet? We've got the gas, the fields, the infrastructure — yet east coast households and businesses suffer while exporters ship it offshore. Time to copy a proven winner: Qatar-style domestic-first policy nationwide. Put Australians ahead of foreign buyers. Who actually benefits from the current setup? Not us!!! (1/4)

I am not going to cop the ABC - or other left wing media - complaining that we have not done enough to guarantee petrol and diesel supplies. For years these organisations have run activist campaigns against my attempts (and others) to drill, baby, drill. They can't turn around now and whinge ... where are the fossil fuels! Maybe after an equal number of pro oil, pro gas and pro coal stories they can be forgiven, but I won't hold my breath!

🚨 BREAKING: After pressure from President Trump, NATO SecGen Mark Rutte says allies are RUSHING to find a way to secure the Strait of Hormuz "I have been in contact with many allies...Strait has to open!" "Allies are discussing how to do that. What is the best way to do it, they are working to find a way forward." Rutte KNOWS Trump means business, and Trump just threatened to pull away from the Strait entirely and let it fall on our "allies" to secure it LESS TALK, MORE ACTION!
