Prior to 2025-26, the only former #Gophers defenseman to record 50 points in an NHL season was Reed Larson, whose last of nine 50-point campaigns was in 1985-86.
This season, both Jackson LaCombe (51) and Brock Faber (50) have accomplished the feat.

With his first professional goal, Brody Lamb becomes the 50th former #Gophers player to score at the pro level in 2025-26 and the 19th to do it in the AHL.
Before Lamb, the last Gopher to score a goal for the Hartford Wolf Pack was Blake McLaughlin on March 5, 2025.

@evegoe Both UMN and Motzko’s quotes certainly make it seem that way, which I would hope will help ease some of the concerns people have on the recruiting pipeline. I’d have to think that was a big topic of discussion in this process.

Statement from UMN indicates Motzko and Minnesota mutually agreed to part ways. College athletics have changed so much in the last few years, we've seen a lot of good experienced coaches decide to turnover the keys.

When it comes to Minnesota, it’s one of the most premiere jobs in college hockey. I think literally anyone could be a candidate there. I’ll try to get some thoughts out on what they could do, but I think anyone that they would potentially target would be interested.

Motzko: "This was my 42nd year in coaching, and at this stage in my career, now is the right time for new leadership. I have dedicated 14 years to this program as a head coach, assistant coach and student. I am grateful for every minute of it. In addition to working with so many incredible student-athletes, it was great to see the arena full again and the passion restored to our program. One of the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of my eight years was reconnecting with and uniting our alumni and having them involved with our program. Here's a feature story our @DWolfsonKSTP did on new #MNWild forward Bobby Brink leading into the 2019 NHL Draft. Once upon a time Brink was a star for the Minnetonka Skippers. Plan is for Brink, assuming he gets to Vegas in time, to be in the lineup tonight.
