@Yorkshire_Steve @llawlim1 @Samstricko181 I agree, I taught GCSE and A-level for years in the UK so MYP was a bit of a surprise but I love both qualifications (MYP and DP).
English

@Chemistry_Marsh @llawlim1 @Samstricko181 Agree, it's a brilliant qualification. I love their middle years programme too.
I hadn't realised ofqual regulated their grading. Thanks for sharing that info.
English

@Yorkshire_Steve @llawlim1 @Samstricko181 Actually the International baccalaureate is regulated by ofqual, it meets all of their standards. It’s also a highly regarded and internationally recognised institution.
English

@Chemistry_Marsh @llawlim1 @Samstricko181 Ah, I was talking about quals regulated by ofqual such as gcses and A levels. I am not as familiar with how unregulated quals are graded.
English

@llawlim1 @Yorkshire_Steve @Samstricko181 Yes, for us (international baccalaureate), there is a static percentage of students that achieve the top grade and the rest of the boundaries are calculated from that. While it’s rare to get big differences in numbers of students it could have an affect if you had a small cohort.
English

@Yorkshire_Steve @Samstricko181 Boundaries have changed when numbers increase in certain subjects, has been true at A level. Nothing to do with ‘easy’ or ‘hard’ papers.
English

@Samstricko181 @JennyfurrT I’m sure that they will and you will find new ways to help those that don’t come in. We think our students are adaptable and enjoy change but I find that they prefer the “old ways” and don’t like change all that much.
English

@Chemistry_Marsh @JennyfurrT I hope most of the kids do continue to come in.
English

@Samstricko181 @JennyfurrT I’m sure that this will continue in your school, it’s amazing how traditions carry on when you least expect it but with the app it might mean that some students have an alternative way of getting their results. There’s no perfect way for any of this but we can only do our best 🤷🏽♀️
English

@JennyfurrT @Chemistry_Marsh Most kids go into school, rightly so
English

@Samstricko181 @JennyfurrT I work with my IB Diploma students for many days and in fact weeks after they receive their results, there are many ways to support students without the requirement of them going to school. For some students they might not wish to attend school to receive their results.
English

@Chemistry_Marsh @JennyfurrT That’s great for you. You need to, respectfully, be part of a full result day to understand the work schools do on this day and why that work is crucial to support many, many pupils. Granted not all will need that support. Some just want to be with staff to say thank you.

@HedgehogCabin @ChrisGPackham could you spread the word about the dangers of slugs to hedgehogs ?
@Feargal_Sharkey could you spread the word about leaving wild spaces to ensure clean water for hogs and us ?
