It's not illogical, it's just that the logic has been hidden from people. Bestiality is morally taboo because if it wasn't people would actually have sex with animals instead of, or in addition to, other humans. Sex is enjoyable and animals either can't or won't say no. People would forego human relationships for ones with animals that were much more convenient. They would also contract all sorts of nasty STDs from the village donkey/dog/goat etc. Both of these are dysgenic in the sense that they net reduce the size and/or quality of the next generation of humans.

I’ve held my views on bestiality and incest since about sixth grade, when I realized that there were no logically sound arguments against. It was thus difficult for me to understand just how controversial they would be — that the taboo is illogical is not hard to figure out.

@Aella_Girl For a long while I did, it started getting easier every day I forced myself to interact with people that thought I was the devil reincarnate while being a bad person themselves, right in front of me. After enough "people" I was basically cured of the problem.

Do you struggle with fears around being a 'bad person' (even if you know this is irrational)?

this is grim, more so bc the book apparently says the median time spent having sex (according to fitbit data, not self reporting) is only 9 minutes? low-libido people deserve love obv (may they find each other!) but do these numbers suggest we're in a low libido era? there should be studies if libido is dropping across the board obv, but if not, I really don't think a relationship can survive a libido mismatch. one could argue I put far too much emphasis on sexual connection in a relationship, but it's really one of the best ways to bond with your partner! if libidos are dropping or people are deprioritising sex, we're losing one of the most fundamental, undistracted ways to meaningfully connect with the person you love. it keeps you in tune with one another. people complain about dead bedrooms but it doesn't really seem very complicated to address? talk about what you want, take time to arouse your partner, invest in each other's pleasure. see sex as a sacred thing you're fortunate to share with someone you care about. it's not any less important than any of the other fundamental life stuff you have to navigate. obviously I mean this generally, and phases of life affect libidos and desire for sex. I don't mean to say that people at later stages of life with lower libidos can't feel bonded and attuned to their partner, but the book shows people 16-34 who are cohabitating are only having sex a handful of times each month and idk... that seems problematic?

People in the comments figuring out the basis of relationships for the first time and surprisingly animals also have different types of relationships with different people after they get to know them better.

Abuse happens anyway, abuse is already outlawed, and sex can benefit both parties here, and bestiality being illegal is also provably harmful to both zoos and their partners. Do you think the abuse that happens from making it legal outweighs the abuse now?

@hereforthezoo @zedderchee It doesn't matter what I'm capable of. Legalization of bestiality would be worse for animals, only to benefit a few humans. Fighting for that is selfish or ignorant. Certainly this is something people need to understand before they should be considering bestiality.

Yeah, let's move toward animal personhood by stripping animals of their autonomy and banning interspecies sex involving humans full-stop, often resulting in them being euthanized and having their human caretakers imprisoned. Makes perfect sense.
