My wife (Ria) went to AIIMS. I went to IIT Delhi. We watched 'Hello Bachhon' on Netflix this weekend. One kid in the show breaks down walls in his village to sell bricks so he can afford coaching fees. A girl hides her textbooks because her parents want her married off. Throughout the show, Ria and I realized that we never had to fight for any of that. We had access to coaching. Good coaching. Neither of us ever worried about whether we'd get to prepare. The IIT-AIIMS crowd loves talking about the grind. # of hours of self-study per day, the pressure, and sleepless nights. I've done it too. But that grind starts after you already have access. Most of us skipped the actual hard part and don't even know it because the people who are capable but can't afford access are invisible. They're not in your coaching batch. They're not in your college. You never compete against them because they never got the chance to show up. We credit hard work more than it deserves. Sometimes the biggest advantage was just being born in the right city to the right family. 'Hello Bachhon' made this truth hard to ignore. Great watch.

Distressing how humans even after eons of evolution, don't understand the role of natural ecosystems in our survival. These mangroves are host to infinite species. They've served the city, selflessly. Mumbai, when you drive on this graveyard of trees, remember, Nature has memory.

Alt News is ₹10 lakh short of breaking even this financial year. We need 2,000 people to donate ₹500 each before March 31. That's 6 days. Fighting misinformation isn't like putting out a fire. There's no moment when it's done. It's a fact-check every morning, a verification every afternoon, documentation of hate speech that nobody else is recording - day after day, year after year, for nine years. We don't take ads. We don't have sponsors. We have readers. Donate before March 31! pages.razorpay.com/altnews If not you, who? If not now, when?

The @Wangchuk66 detention case raised serious constitutional and legal questions that deserved a judicial answer by the #SupremeCourtofIndia not just an executive retreat. It brought into focus core safeguards against misuse of the NSA. From reliance on truncated videos and incorrect transcripts, suppression of crucial exonerating material, incorrect reliance on stale FIRs and extraneous material, to glaring non-application of mind by the detaining authority by passing a detention order which was a complete verbatim copy-paste of the police recommendation- the case exposed how preventive detention can slip into arbitrariness. Most concerning was the 28-day delay in furnishing the most relevant relied upon videos in violation of the 10 day statutory timeline prescribed under Section 8, NSA—striking at the heart of Article 22 protections and the detainee’s right to make an effective representation. The executive stepped back, revoked the detention, and in doing so acknowledged its error. That course correction matters. But the judiciary should have also risen to the occasion especially as was indicated by @AmitShah, our Honourable #HomeMinister. A reasoned judgment here could have set a strong precedent—clarifying standards, reinforcing safeguards and sending a clear signal against procedural and substantive lapses. Moments like these are opportunities for constitutional courts to “grow taller”—to transform individual injustice into lasting jurisprudence. Without that, systemic ambiguities remain. If India aspires to be a Vishwaguru, it must not only correct mistakes but also articulate principles. The law grows strongest when institutions rise to the occasion together. #CGI

Modi & Fadnavis Sold Out to Adani – Fishermen’s Lives Be Damned! Lakhs of Palghar fishermen are raging on the streets, screaming that Vadhavan Port will wipe out their livelihoods forever. But who cares? The BJP double-engine government under Modi and Devendra Fadnavis bows only to big businessmen like Adani, crushing the sons of the soil, Adivasis, and coastal warriors fighting for their jal, jungle, zameen! Worse: No mainstream media coverage! Why? Most channels now owned by industrialists protecting their cronies. This is corporate loot disguised as "development" – time to expose the betrayal! The BJP government’s Transgender Persons Amendment Bill is a brazen attack on the Constitutional rights and identity of transgender people. This regressive bill: - strips transgender people of their ability to self identify, violating a Supreme Court judgement - wipes out the diverse cultural identities of communities across India - forces trans people to undergo dehumanizing examinations by a medical board - introduces criminal penalties and surveillance without safeguards The BJP government hasn’t consulted the trans community and brought a bill which stigmatises rather than protects them. The Constitution protects every Indian’s right to life, liberty, identity, and dignity. This BJP government is violating our Constitution and destroying India’s rich history of honouring transgender communities in pursuit of its narrow ideas. The Congress Party unequivocally opposes this Bill.

On 18 March 2026, one of our tweets was blocked in India following an order from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under Section 69A of the IT Act, 2000. The tweet posted on 14 March 2026 (screenshot attached below) is now inaccessible in India; however, the content remains available elsewhere. The correspondence we received from X support did not contain any information on the reasons for this blocking order. The tweet was an excerpt from our December 2022 report titled “The submission of India Today Group.” Read the entire report here: caravanmagazine.in/media/india-to…
