Washington D.C. vive bajo un toque de queda juvenil constante: actualmente es ilegal que grupos de más de 8 menores se reúnan en determinadas zonas a partir de las 8 de la tarde. ¿El origen del problema? Décadas de abandono institucional, privatización del espacio público y ausencia de ocio asequible en los barrios más pobres de la ciudad. El capitalismo ha construido estadios de béisbol de 900 millones de dólares en Navy Yard, pero no ha sido capaz de darle a sus jóvenes un parque donde estar sin que los detengan. ¿Y cuál es la respuesta de esos jóvenes? Ir en masa, durante un corto periodo de tiempo, a generar disturbios en las zonas más ricas de la ciudad.
