@KenWo4LiFe I’ve been thinking this same thing. Guys playing a new position and ensured the run didn’t score. Was it perfect? No. Were there worse possible outcomes than this? Absolutely. Game should have ended with Taylor pitching the 9th anyways, that’s a bigger deal to me.

I feel like people are making too big of an issue out of this. Ideal? No. it’s better than him going back to the base and not getting the runner at the plate. Guy is new to first and everyone says first is easy but it can make you look real bad real fast.

If you draft someone in the 20th round they are slotted to be paid 150K vs the top guy in the draft this year will get over 10 Million. They would have to change the signing bonus system if they did draft rights like NHL

@ChiSox96 @jjcoop36 @MLBPA What’s the difference ‘tween HS players getting drafted in the 20th, going to JC or college for 1-2-3 years & then becoming a 1st-round pick? At least w/ my proposal HS players can go to college & make more money through NIL than low-level minors. Some may go to MLB; most won’t!

@theLVBigGuy @jjcoop36 @MLBPA I think that would address the issue of draft rights but with the bonus system it would make it difficult, I don’t think the players would be in support of high schoolers going in the 12th round in HSand then improving to a 1st round talent but not being paid 1st round money

Someone in my replies suggested an Andrew Benintendi for Luis Castillo trade and I can’t stop thinking about it.
The Mariners have too many pitchers but not enough bats. The White Sox are the opposite. Both are free agents after next season. Makes sense for both sides.

I do think baseball fans have the least understanding of what equal value in a trade is of any of the major sports fans

@AdrianWhiteSox @dannybarrand_ I think for most people it’s prospect fatigue at this point. I also think they are getting bonus numbers from everyone in that top 4 reported group to try and get their best deal with the best player. I’d bet on Roch or Vahn at this point still though.

I think some people are prospect fatigued on UCLA SS Roch Cholowsky, but if I were a decision maker picking 1.1, you couldn’t talk me out of him. ++ field, ~4.15 HP-1B, good swing decisions & bat-to-ball, handles spin, 114 maxEV with feel to elevate/pull (48% HHPull / 14° HH LA).

Reading between the lines here, I would be shocked if Caleb Bonemer and Billy Carlson were traded at this deadline.
I’m keeping an eye on Jacob Gonzalez though. I think he could be a guy they use to get pitching once Mune is back.
