@puglistfan82 @rachelbovard Expecting a Catholic bishop to not clap as president’s crimes and convictions are compared to Jesus’ crucifixion or the president comparing himself as a King to Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem … isn’t too much to ask, Rick. Especially when the president is this depraved …

Your motives are political not Godly. You can’t stand a Bishop has opinions that don’t align with yours. I don’t agree with the Pope on everything but sometimes I must ask myself if my opinion aligns with what I want God to be or what he actually is. Stop pitting God in a worldly sense he’s above such things.

Bishop Barron derangement syndrome is real. The man is doing yeoman’s work to bring lost souls and fallen away Catholics back to the church, reaching them on mediums and platforms where they’d never encounter the message otherwise. Maybe say a prayer for him (and all the clergy) instead of viciously emoting online.

@CatholicABear @rachelbovard I didn’t say it was a sin. I said Robert has a penchant for commenting on anything and everything. Yet, when the American president, who Robert was just lavishing praise on - says things so immoral, so depraved, so unhinged - Robert is silent. That lack of courage is sad.

@Chicago9811 @rachelbovard Condemning everything from the New York City mayor to artwork is not a sin. Not condemning the president And even ‘revering’ the president, None of that means you should judge Bishop Barron. You can voice your opinion that he should, but stating as a fact is dangerous.

@puglistfan82 @rachelbovard You said Robert didn’t have time to condemn the depraved, immoral, un-Christlike behaviors of the President of the United States, who he lavishes public praise on. Yet I point out Robert condemns everything from the Super Bowl to artwork to the NYC mayor and I’ve lost the plot?

@puglistfan82 @rachelbovard Robert condemns everything from the New York mayor to artwork to a Super Bowl halftime show. And yet doesn’t have the “time” to condemn the un-Christlike, depraved, immoral actions of the leader of our country - one who he was with 72 hours prior as he was compared to Jesus?

@Chicago9811 @rachelbovard Bishop Barron has spent his life condemning evil. Much of that evil you support. If he attacked every sinning politician he wouldn’t have time to preach the good word. He didn’t spend much time attacking any president I can think of.

@CatholicABear @rachelbovard Robert condemns everything from the New York City mayor to artwork. That’s kind of his thing. Unless it happens to be about the president who he reveres acting in un-Christ like, depraved, immoral ways. In that case, Robert won’t make a peep.

@CLK1341104 @rachelbovard When Robert doesn’t have the courage to condemn this depraved, immoral and unhinged messaging from a man he was lavishing praise on not 72 hours earlier … is beyond troubling. He’s become little more than a MAGA political hack - Joe Strickland 2.0

Right I can’t comprehend these attacks! In 10 years went off the current boomer Catholics die out, there will be massive church closings across the US, cause they’re the ones that are financially supporting all the local parishes. Bishop Barron has spent his life trying to reverse this trend and all people do is poke at him.

@rachelbovard Bishop Barron is a Catholic and a patriot, a gentleman scholar. He is faithful to Holy Mother Church and loyal to his country. That he is maligned by those of lesser minds and character from both the left and right is the strongest proof of the efficacy of his ministry.

One year ago, I closed the $4 million Biden EPA museum that almost no one ever visited or even knew existed. RIP🪦   In total last year, at the Trump EPA where the annual operating budget is ~$10 billion, our team achieved $30 BILLION in savings by canceling grants and media contracts, consolidating real estate, reducing staff size, and cutting costs in many other key ways.
Lee Zeldin@epaleezeldin

The Biden Admin spent $4M in tax dollars on a museum to tell a selective story of @EPA history. It costs $600K per year to operate even though only 1,909 external visitors came through in the last 9 months. Today we are closing it.

Sounds pretty Republican conservative to me. Democrats, all of them, believe in bigger government and that the government knows how to spend my tax money better than I do. They don’t. I’ll never vote Democrat regardless of their other persuasions because fundamentally I will always disagree with the base premise.

I left the GOP in 2004 and the Democrats in 2024, I don’t vote based on party anymore. I vote based on standards, qualifications, and specific issues. If a candidate can’t meet a majority, they don’t get my vote... or donation. Here’s where I stand heading into this election:

I swear Catholics are the worst at evangelizing online with videos like this. You have a beautiful video of the faithful being baptized into the Catholic church, and you overlay it with 1980 boomer parish rock beats that are nauseating to listen to. This is where the Orthobros dominate. They'd have a video like this and overlay it with Agne Parthene or Psalm 135 Byzantine Chant. Catholicism has some of the most profound and richest Gregorian Chants, Holy Week Chants, Organ/piano choir music by some of the greatest musical minds in the history of the world (Franz Liszt for example)..... And this is the music you overlay over these type of videos. This is two I have seen today. This music is perfectly represented visually in the picture below.

@ParodyAoc @MikeNellis MAGA states like Mississippi and Alabama have the highest teen pregnancy rates in the nation. Also the poorest and most uneducated. And MAGA politicians let it happen. Sad.

Earlier today, I said something on Newsmax that was not true. I said that Arkansas is the teen pregnancy capital of the United States. I was wrong. Turns out, it’s Mississippi—Arkansas actually has the second-highest teen pregnancy rate. I sincerely apologize to those hurt by my comments, especially Republican politicians in Southern states who work so hard to create more teen mothers. Keep at it, I guess.

@MattPetrusek @ReasonTheology Robert regularly condemns things in the political world totally unrelated to his role as bishops of Winona. Given he was just lavishing praise on the president 72 hours before this post, will be condemn this depraved, immoral and unhinged Easter message from the President?

To those who are actually interested in the authentic good of the Church: This tedious, performatively hand-wringing, self-righteous, and self-promoting monologue, like so many others across social media, tells you nothing of value about Bishop Barron and his approach to evangelization. If you really want to know who Bishop Barron is and what he thinks and how all of that animates Word on Fire, then please read his extensive library of books and articles and watch his thousands of hours of videos. You will find that there is nothing unorthodox about his theology or the way in which he conducts his work of evangelization. He is effective because he draws on the Catholic Church’s intellectual treasures and communicates them in a clear and compelling way, especially to secular audiences. He is as mainstream and dogmatic a man of the Church as there is who has a charism for communicating the timeless truths of the faith. Bishop Barron, to his credit, is also frequently in proximity with people, some of them high-profile and powerful, with whom he has significant disagreements. He is there to converse, not to endorse. He isn’t gesticulating behind a home-office microphone. He is in the world, and the world is messy and dangerous. It requires tact and nuance, and much of the hardest work is done in private to avoid spectacle and to build trust–trust that leads to actions and policies that protect all Christians. To those harrumphing and tut-tutting for clicks from the sidelines, if you really care about the Church–if you’re not only interested in yourself–get out of your swivel chair and outside of your speaking circuit (if you’ve made it that far) and get into the physical fray. Do evangelical work that few will see and even fewer will appreciate. Be willing to suffer. And for God’s sake, take an actual risk for the Gospel once in a while.
