By October, there were many instances of elected officials violating the public COVID safety laws with no prosecutions. Mark Mallory, Whitmer's husband, getting onto the lake at the same time as I was prosecuted. Chatfield, Shirkey and Lilly sipping Dom Perignon in the Trump Hotel LaFave's mask stunts Whitmer taking the trip to Florida... Then, the folks who were ordinary people who lived their lives in the same ways faced draconian and terrorist punishments: Marlena Hackney went to jail and was fined $15,000 Karl Manke was a barber who was terrorized in lawfare for cutting hair. Michael Maciag's bar had its liquor license suspended when the patrons threw the state inspector out for telling them to wear masks. Kei Ju Farm where the state killed all the animals because the owner hadn't gotten a bullshit permit that was instituted after COVID. COVID was the ultimate mask off moment that the rulers simply were consolidating power and had no intention of assisting public safety. How can I have trust in public healthcare institutions when the politicians running the public benefit were so aggressively totalitarian?

A question for everyone: survey data suggests that by the end of the Covid-19 emergency trust in public health institutions had decreased significantly. If you are among the people who reacted that way, why specifically? I'm hoping for long, diverse, individualized answers.

@carson_tk Both OSUs belong in Good Programs rather than great. MSU probably belongs in Blue Bloods. Northwestern belongs in horrible. NEB does too. There needs to be a "Scary mid-major" tier where the teams like VCU, SantaClara, Saint Mary's, SL, Butler and High Point go.

@nonregemesse The modern world is an incredibly chill time. Even with mechanized warfare, the amount of violence the average person sees is so much less than the ancient war. There has never been a safer, more prosperous or more stable time than the 21st century.

By definition, a Church should be a community, a place where believers come together to worship and serve each other in service and prayer. But for so many churches, the idea of community exists for the two hours between when people leave their car in the parking lot, and when they skip out after communion to beat traffic on the way out of the parking lot. How we build churches has a lot to do with this, since we build churches far away from neighborhoods, looking for huge lots where we can surround them with seas of parking lots. But what would happen if we started looking at church properties as a place to build a REAL community rather than just a place for ample parking? What if instead of making church a part-time activity on Sunday, we started making parishes into a place to live out the faith every single day of the week? This is the idea behind the vision for the New Parish Village Plan. This proposal shows how a suburban parish can be transformed into a living and breathing community where parishioners could live within walking distance of each other and start to create a real parish community. Drawing from examples of small villages in Europe and the Eastern United States, the plan centers the church standing at its heart. Surrounded by a variety of housing types, from large houses to small apartments, every member of the parish could find a home nearby, and with public space to gather and a small retail center for a café, coffee shop, or office space, the parish could be alive every day of the week, not just Sunday.
