They did. George W Bush bombed Fallujah with white phosphorus and depleted uranium in 2004. Fallujah now has the highest rate of birth defects in the world. Higher than Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the U.S. dropped atom bombs on them.
Winfried Eamon Scheidges@celticarab

@shailjapatel Didn’t US soldiers use White phosphorus in their attacks on Fallujah during their war on Iraq?

A chilling story leading the Minneapolis Star Tribune this morning this morning. ICE agents followed Minnesota Democratic lawmakers who had been critical of ICE in the state, stopping multiple times to take pictures of their houses. This is what a police state does

As I reported, Meeks staff previously tried to delay a vote by warning 40 Dems could oppose it. In the end, just 4 did. Now Meeks is saying he may not hold the vote because *one* member could vote no. Democratic leadership is doing everything it can to avoid voting on this war
Andrew Solender@AndrewSolender

Rep. Greg Meeks tells me he hasn’t decided whether to force a vote on his war powers resolution this week or in mid-April. He also confirmed my reporting that his whip efforts have gotten most Dem defectors on board, with just one member whose vote is uncertain.

This guy is a member of the political party that did nothing to hold the financial executives accountable in 2009 - instead look forward not back. And they'll do nothing about this as well once in power. And they'll have plenty of excuses like Obama did as to why they can't.

$1.5 BILLION. Let me say it again - a $1.5 BILLION BET. Bigger than any futures purchases made at the time. 5 minutes before Trump's post. Who was it? Trump? A family member? A White House staffer? This is corruption. Mind blowing corruption.

BREAKING: Just five minutes before Trump's announcement to halt the attacks on Iran, massive trades reportedly hit the market. In one move, $1.5 billion in S&P 500 (ES) futures was bought while $192 million in oil (CL) futures was sold. These orders were 4–6x larger than anything else at the time. The trader seemingly made huge gains. Unusual.

There's been lots of talk on whether this is solely Trump's war, or if others are at fault. If Democratic leadership delays a vote on a War Powers Resolution — with severe escalation feared in the coming days — that makes them (and any interests they're indulging) complicit too.
Justice Democrats@justicedems

There is no excuse here — Democrats can actually pass a War Powers Resolution but Dem leadership is slow-walking so members don't have to be put on the record. Voters are demanding Democrats oppose this war. Instead, Dem leadership is working overtime to serve Trump & AIPAC.

Wow it’s almost like there was a deeply engaged protest movement by college students 2yrs ago that was the largest in 50yrs and the publication you work for—along with every other major outlet—smeared them as antisemites, then they were all systematically kicked out of school.
Thomas Chatterton Williams@thomaschattwill

A lot of the problems in the world right now can be explained by this video. For one thing, it’s a big reason why the US government is so unaccountable to public opinion. These are *college students.* A significant amount of the country is totally checked out and comfortable enough not to think it matters.

Once again US media is casually reporting the Pentagon’s use of human shields. Here the NYT details how US troops are hiding in civilian “office spaces” and “hotels” because they don’t want to be “vulnerable” or too close to “the current front lines”.

Reuters confirms why I’ve been saying: the U.S. has been allowing fuel in to Cuban private businesses like foreign-operated hotels but barring it from hospitals and other publicly run institutions. I’m sure that the NYT and The Free Press, which produced entire articles about Hasan Piker’s hotel, will do a follow up now

Wrote about my firsthand observations of the impacts of the fuel blockade on people in Havana. Short version: what the US is doing is utterly unconscionable and abhorrent, and the silence of our politicians is indefensible: currentaffairs.org/news/turn-the-…
