@YankeeSource The problem is right now the Yankees are trying to out-Rays the Rays, but they're doing it with too many platoons of one-dimensional players. Like, two 1B only guys when you have a locked in DH and your best defensive 1B might actually be your LF?

@YankeeSource Also true, but he was in Mexico 6 months ago so I can't imagine he'd be too hot on waivers, and they have 2 open 40 spots and 1 guy on the 60day IL, so there's room. Especially if it was a Grichuk DFA. Funny how this is the 'best' bench in years and it's so unfunctional.

It will be interesting to see what the Yankees do with their roster once Volpe returns. If they DFA Grichuk and keep Escarra around, all of these AB to get him going will just be a waste of time. With Caballero and Rosario as OF options, they don’t really need Grichuk once Caballero shifts back into a utility role.

@YankeeSource I don't think he was ever on San Diego's 40-man so he should have 3 options, and at 32, I mean, he's not a prospect. It's amazing that AAA has an OF that has 4 LHB and Jasson (plus Seth Brown) so Torres and Kenedy Corona are the 'best' RHB OF options.

Today is Jazz's 283rd career game at 2B. That's 283 more than me, whose hasn't played 2B regularly in anything since 1991, and yet I knew the right answer and he doesn't.
Unless he's moving to CF full time, no way you can re-sign him.

Also, I hope all of my DC friends/followers soak in today's Caps game. To make playoffs, Caps need to win out and have Philly lose out (w/1 in regulation) and Columbus lose once. So good chance this is it for Ovi at Cap One for this year, if not forever.

I understand why they made the roster, but if I were the Yankees, I'd seriously think about optioning Escarra, DFA'ing Grichuk, and bringing up Cabrera and one of the RHH catchers in Scranton. O-Cab would give Yankees 3 UTIL IF who can play OF corners, but can also play SS/3B.

Weird Winquest-related stat: as RP9, realistically the Yankees had three games where you'd potentially use a mop-up guy at the end with a 5+ run lead. Brent Headrick pitched the 8th in all three of them.

With Luis Gil set to make his season debut, the #Yankees DFA'd Cade Winquest last night. Winquest never got in a game for NY, as Aaron Boone made it known he didn't think the Rule 5 pick was ready for even light leverage situations.
