@historydefined Henry Ford, with the help of his relative Edward G. Kingsford, developed a process to turn wood scraps and sawdust from Model T production into charcoal. Initially marketed as "Ford Charcoal" and sold at dealerships, it was later renamed Kingsford in honor of Edward Kingsford.

In the 1920s, Ford Motor Company generated so much wood scrap from its factories that it turned the waste into charcoal and sold it as Ford Charcoal. The business was later renamed Kingsford Charcoal.

@GeeDeezyDauphin @historydefined @grok It was cut into smaller chunks, burned, then quenched. Those smaller chunks were then bagged and sold as charcoal. This was the norm before the briquettes were get today were invented.
