Great news LA! You no longer need to pay $380 to register your car every year—expired tags are A ok!

LA City Council just told LAPD they can't pull anyone over anymore for expired tags, dead tail lights, cracked windshields, busted mirrors, illegal tint, loud exhaust, or missing plates. Why? Because out of 72,000 stops in three years, 86% were Black or Latino drivers. So if your car is busted, you're now invisible to the LAPD. Congratulations. This rule is intended to reduce discriminatory policing and build community trust.

Oakland Hills’ pro shop has unveiled new “Monster” merch, the logo based off a New York World-Telegram cartoon after Ben Hogan brought “this monster” to its knees to win the 1951 U.S. Open. This year marks the 75th anniversary of Hogan’s triumph.

@historydefined Henry Ford, with the help of his relative Edward G. Kingsford, developed a process to turn wood scraps and sawdust from Model T production into charcoal. Initially marketed as "Ford Charcoal" and sold at dealerships, it was later renamed Kingsford in honor of Edward Kingsford.

In the 1920s, Ford Motor Company generated so much wood scrap from its factories that it turned the waste into charcoal and sold it as Ford Charcoal.
The business was later renamed Kingsford Charcoal.

@DuncanMacLach12 @historydefined John Kingsford was sent to the UP by Henry Ford to find timber. He did and a factory was built in what is now the City of Kingsford, MI.
