The reports from the spokesperson of our great party, which exposes the plans of the government and its agents to revoke the licence of Rainbow Event Centre for the singular offence of hosting the African Democratic Congress convention slated for today, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, is a shameful and cowardly abuse of public office. Let it be said without equivocation: coercing a private business owner to deny a lawfully registered opposition party the use of a venue is not governance. It is not politics. It is the naked conduct of a regime that has lost the argument, lost the people, and now reaches for the boot because it has nothing else left. The ADC has paid every fee. The ADC has signed every contract. The ADC has broken no law. Our only offence is that we are organising, we are growing, and we are preparing to retire this failed government at the ballot box in 2027. This is how democracies are strangled, not in a single dramatic blow, but in a thousand petty, vindictive acts against opposition parties, against free assembly, and against the sacred right of citizens to choose their own leaders. To the international community, and every democratic partner of Nigeria: take note of what is being done here tonight, and in whose name. We will not be intimidated. We will not be silenced. We will not bow to this creeping tyranny, and we will never bow to the petty tyrants behind it. The convention will hold. The ADC will rise. And Nigeria will rise with it. -AA

Thank you @otegaogra for amplifying your stupidity. You thought you could hide it under buzzwords and a long write-up, right? Ozuor. Now let's dive deeper into the gibberish you wrote here. First of all, a good policy can be badly implemented, and that is exactly what the government you support did with the subsidy removal and the floating of the naira. There is a popular saying that if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. The druggie came out on the day of his inauguration to scream “Subsidy is gone.” That was the first sign of disaster. Tinubu did not plan at all. He thought he could ride on a popular demand without an iota of knowledge on how it could be successfully implemented. Well, he never had any intention of fixing anything. He forgot that removing the subsidy and floating the currency are not items on a food menu that you can simply swap, nor is it an expired coke that you can sniff just like that. He was completely oblivious to the planning required and the stakeholder engagements needed to make it work.Lastly, democracy is the government of the people at all times, not just for some days or some moments. This is why any policy that adds to the pains of the people without any clear pathway to success is automatically a bad policy. You won’t understand this because you are blinded by the crumbs you are getting and the fake life you are living, which is clearly above your means. Next time, allow your head to do the thinking because you’ve relied on your ass for far too long. You were created with a brain — use it.
O'tega Ogra@otegaogra

Thank you, Mr Gregory Peter Obi @PeterObi . If you notice, based on your tweet as a private citizen of Nigeria which you posted on 04/09/2022 regarding removing multiple exchange rates, President Tinubu heard you and others as a listening President and fixed it. However, since you spoke your truth, that truth has been tested, but has now been twisted and flailed by you on various forums. You once argued for discipline in markets, today you dance around the consequences of that very discipline. You once called for courage in policy, today you retreat into comfort in opposition and say it was wrong. What changed, sir? Was it the idea or the identity of the man who chose to act on it? The current President, our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, did exactly what you prescribed. Not in theory, not in tweets, not in tidy sentences, but in the hard, grinding reality of governance. He allowed the market breathe. He removed the distortion. He faced the storm. You asked for demand and supply, you got demand and supply, yet now you resist the very medicine you prescribed. May I call it what it is? What you have been doing is not economics and not policy. It is performance. Why? Because leadership is not about saying what sounds right, it is about doing what is right. And doing is different from saying, just as courage is different from commentary. You say let the market decide, yet when the market decides, you decide to disagree. You say it is simple, yet you complicate it with selective memory. You preach consistency, yet you practice convenience. So we must ask, and we will keep asking. What changed? Was it conviction or calculation? Was it principle or politics? Was it belief or benefit seeing that you are now in bed with those you said are the problems of Nigeria? Policy without consistency is noise, and consistency without courage is nothing. Or was that tweet, like too many things we have seen, a careful copy without commitment, a borrowed thought without ownership, a manifesto stitched together from the ideas of others without the discipline to defend them when it matters? You cannot demand reform and then reject reform. You cannot call for fire and then complain about heat. You cannot stand on principle and then step off it when it becomes inconvenient. Say what you mean, Mr Gregory Peter Obi and mean what you say. Also stand where you stood because in the end, the test of leadership is not what you once tweeted, it is what you are willing to defend when those tweets come alive. President Bola Tinubu will continue to Listen and act in the overall best interest of Nigerians. Otega Ogra

From Pharisee to Tax Collector: Rethinking Tinubu’s Kenyan Comparison In a recent remark in Yenagoa, Bola Ahmed Tinubu suggested that Nigerians should find solace in being “better off than Kenya and other African countries.” While this may have been intended to soften the impact of economic hardship and rising fuel prices, the comment risks downplaying the severity of the current crisis. It echoes the biblical parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector in the Gospel of Luke (18:9–14). A similar warning is found in the Qur’an (53:32), which cautions against self-righteousness. Like the Pharisee who boasted of his superiority over others to mask his own spiritual void, such downward comparisons serve more as a refuge than a remedy. This validated an earlier dismissive remark by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu during electioneering: “Na statistics we go shop?” Yet statistics remain indispensable - they are the language through which nations understand their condition and chart progress. No country can develop in isolation from measurable realities or without comparing itself with peers. Comparisons, when properly grounded, are not instruments of escapism but tools of accountability. What is objectionable is not comparison itself, but comparison stripped of credible, verifiable data—mere tax collector comparisons that soothe rather than solve. On key development indicators such as security, the Human Development Index, life expectancy, GDP per capita, literacy levels, and electricity access, Kenya consistently outperforms Nigeria. Nigeria is the fourth most terrorised nation in the world, while Kenya is not among the ten worst. Kenya’s HDI ranking is 143 out of 180 countries, with a coefficient of about 0.630, compared to Nigeria’s ranking of 164 out of 180, with a coefficient of about 0.530. Its GDP per capita is roughly $2,200–$2,300, compared to Nigeria’s $807–$835. Kenya’s poverty rate is about 43% of the population (approximately 23 million people), while Nigeria’s is about 63% (around 150 million people), over six times that of Kenya. Kenya’s life expectancy is about 67 years, while Nigeria’s is about 54 years. The literacy rate in Kenya is approximately 81–85%, compared to Nigeria’s 62–65%. Kenya’s electricity access is higher, while Nigeria has one of the lowest levels of electricity access in the world. Kenya has about 3.5 million out-of-school children, while Nigeria has about 20 million. Kenya’s inflation rate has been about 4.5% or lower over the past three years, while Nigeria’s has remained above 15% within the same period. Kenya’s exchange rate has been around USD 1 to KES 130 over the past three years, whereas Nigeria’s exchange rate rose from below ₦500/$1 to above ₦1,250/$1 within the same period. Even with developments in the Middle East and rising oil prices, Kenyans have not experienced the sharp increases in petroleum product prices seen in Nigeria. Across other key indicators, Kenya also performs better. In the end, these indices clearly show that Kenya ranks higher than Nigeria on several development metrics. The standard of living of Kenyans is better than that of Nigerians. If the President considers Kenyans to be suffering despite these stronger figures, then Nigerians are in a far more difficult situation. He should therefore refrain from self-consolation and, in honest reflection, take responsibility for the situation and make a determined effort to drive improvement. This requires a posture of humility, accountability, and commitment to addressing the factors that have slowed Nigeria’s development. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

🇳🇬 JUST IN: Up to 200 Feared Dead After Nigerian Air Force Airstrike Hits Busy Market on Borno–Yobe Border As many as 200 people are feared dead, with dozens injured, after a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) airstrike mistakenly struck a crowded weekly market on Saturday. The incident occurred at Jilli Market, a key trading hub located between Gubio Local Government Area and Geidam Local Government Area, where traders from surrounding communities had gathered in large numbers. According to eyewitnesses and local officials, fighter jets operating under Operation Hadin Kai launched the strike targeting suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province elements believed to be active in the area. However, the bombs missed their intended targets and hit the civilian market instead. Multiple explosions tore through the crowded trading ground, sending traders and buyers fleeing in panic. Eyewitnesses described widespread devastation, with bodies scattered across the scene and many victims buried under debris. Victims were rushed to the Specialist Hospital Geidam, where at least 14 injured persons are currently receiving treatment. Several others have reportedly been referred to Damaturu due to the severity of their injuries. While initial eyewitness counts confirmed at least 56 bodies, local sources now warn that the true death toll could be significantly higher, with some estimates placing it at up to 200 fatalities as recovery efforts continue. As of Sunday afternoon, the Nigerian Air Force and Defence Headquarters have yet to issue an official statement addressing the incident or confirming civilian casualties. The Borno–Yobe border remains a volatile frontline in Nigeria’s ongoing counter-insurgency campaign, where civilian populations continue to face deadly risks as terrorists operate within and around local communities. This is a developing story. Casualty figures are expected to be updated as more information emerges.

INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION PRESS STATEMENT INEC CHAIRMAN HAS NO ACCOUNT ON X, DISREGARD PARTISAN FABRICATIONS The attention of the Office of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has been drawn to a malicious and coordinated campaign of calumny circulating on social media. The false claim alleges that the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, has, in the past, endorsed a partisan post on the platform X (formerly Twitter). The Commission wishes to state categorically that this allegation is entirely baseless, a total fabrication, and a figment of the imagination of its purveyors. For the avoidance of doubt, the INEC Chairman does not own or operate any personal account on X. He has at no time engaged in partisan commentary, nor has he ever associated himself with any political leaning or activity in his private or public capacity. This contrived X post is a desperate attempt to impugn the integrity and neutrality of the Chairman at a critical period when the Commission is focused on significant electoral reforms and preparations for upcoming polls. It is a needless distraction designed to stir public distrust in the electoral umpire. Beyond this partisan mischief, the Commission is aware that cybercriminals have been on the prowl, utilising fake social media accounts in the Chairman’s name to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians. We wish to place it on record that several of such fraudulent accounts had been identified and reported to security agencies in the past. This latest fabrication is merely a continuation of a criminal pattern aimed at exploiting the Commission’s profile for illicit gains. The Commission will not fold its arms while the character of its leadership is being assassinated by digital imposters and mischief-makers. We wish to notify the public that we are working in close collaboration with relevant security agencies and cyber-intelligence units to track and identify the individuals or groups behind this identity theft and misinformation. Let it be clearly understood that the Commission will ensure that these imposters face the full wrath of the law. Identity theft and the dissemination of deepfake or forged social media interactions are criminal offenses under the Cybercrimes Act. Those responsible for this mischief will be tracked and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others who believe the digital space is a safe haven for criminality. The general public is hereby urged to disregard this falsehood in its entirety. We will continue to disseminate official information regarding the Commission and the Chairman’s activities only through our verified institutional channels and formal press statements. The Commission remains undeterred and fully committed to its mandate of delivering free, fair, and credible elections for all Nigerians. E-Signed: Adedayo Oketola Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman Abuja, Nigeria. 10th April, 2026
