The level of legal literacy among many South African online debaters is genuinely disturbing. Too many cannot distinguish between fighting to clear one’s name and fighting to remain in a country. Chidimma is fighting to clear her name and challenge the allegations against her; not necessarily to remain in South Africa at all costs. Those are two separate issues. Given her international profile as a beauty queen, she has options beyond South Africa if she ever chooses to pursue them. But that doesn’t take away her right to defend her reputation and challenge decisions she believes are unfair.
