The SCFR swift water team will be participating in a water rescue training with the U.S. Park Police helo in the area of Widewater Beach on Tues., 6/4 & Tues., 6/11 between 10AM & 2PM. Please note this is a training exercise. Should an emergency arise, we will update information.

A Vermont state trooper plunged into a frigid pond and pulled out an 8-year-old girl who had fallen through the ice while playing with siblings. The child survived and fully recovered after a brief hospital stay.

Wondering where the smoke is coming from? According to @staffcofire: You may have noticed a haze of smoke in the area. The smoke is from wildfires in Madison and Patrick Counties to our west and southwest. These fires do not pose a threat to Stafford County.

This morning I attended the @staffcofire graduation to celebrate the brave young men & women dedicating themselves to keeping us safe despite whatever life may bring. May we never take them for granted and always say a little prayer when we hear those fire engine and ambulance sirens. Congrats to all! Special shout out to Luke Shelton and family who have served the Brooke area well for generations.
