When I worked on an offshore oil rig in the Gulf of America (formerly known as Gulf of Mexico) there was a top flight cook on board. Everything he cooked was perfect. Steaks, cakes, pies, anything. If he heard someone liked chocolate cake or pumpkin pie, they were deserts at least one night during the week. I liked chocolate milk, drank some at each meal. Chocolate milk wasn't a big thing for that particular crew and they ran out before the end of that first week. That cook promised me we'd never run out again. We didn't. Little things mean a lot. That cook was a good morale booster. That line of work isn't for the faint of heart. That cook was great, for leadership, those kinds of things keep the wheels greased and everyone is the happier for it.

🇯🇵🇺🇸 Trump’s “Pearl Harbor” remark was triggered by a Japanese reporter—and in Japan, the question itself is widely criticized as foolish, coming from a left-wing reporter. Personally, the bigger issue is the intent behind it. At a time when Japan and the U.S. are reaffirming a strong alliance, asking something that stirs division is problematic. Not informing Japan about a strike on Iran isn’t a “trust issue.” Framing it that way to provoke tension is disingenuous. Some U.S. media are also using this to attack Trump, but from Japan’s perspective, it’s simply a nuisance. Undermining cooperation only benefits China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. Japan will always be America’s tomodachi. The Japan–U.S. alliance is unshakable. We cannot let the left—or the authoritarian bloc—get in the way.

The California Parole Board got an innocent person killed again. Who could have ever predicted that a convicted double murderer would kill again? Two weeks ago they also found two serial convicted child rapists suitable for early release, including one who said he still has sexual fantasies about young children.

Someone on @SenThomTillis staff needs to tell him what happens if Warsh is not confirmed by May 15. Powell is done as chairman of the Fed board on May 15. If Warsh isn’t confirmed, Trump can pick Miran, Bowman, Waller or any governor to fill the vacant spot. No Senate confirmation needed.

Sara and I were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Chuck Norris, a great friend of Israel and a close personal friend. Chuck brought martial arts and the warmth of his character to millions around the world. May his memory be a blessing.

When I ran for President in 08, @chucknorris endorsed me & he & Gena traveled with @janethuckabee & me for over 4 months. Their Christian faith was authentic & deep as was their love for each other. His love of America was profound and borne out of a patriotism that was part of his upbringing & his military service. He was humble & kind. I'll never forget a visit we made to a Veterans Home in New Hampshire. Chuck & Gena graciously visited with every veteran, listening & caring. Most of these veterans idolized Chuck Norris. He & Gena were patient, warm, & compassionate. When we got in the vehicle after the visit, I looked over at them & they were both weeping having been touched by these aging US veterans & their stories. Chuck Norris took God seriously but never took himself too seriously. We often spent travel time sharing Chuck Norris jokes. We went to his ranch in Texas. We kept in touch after the campaign. His given name is Carlos, but it took a while to get used to using the name Gena & his mother called him because after all, he was CHUCK NORRIS! Got to know his wonderful mother who passed away in 2024. He was a guest multiple times on my TV show. When I was named Ambassador to Israel, he was thrilled. He was a strong friend of Israel & of @IsraeliPM Netanyahu. My heart is broken by his death. My condolences to Gena & his family. The legend may be gone, but the memories will never die. Thank you Chuck. "Well done, good & faithful servant!"
