February begins with promise in Rushinga. Juncao grass is almost there while mushrooms create new income at household level. With @AidJuncao24838 🇨🇳,@WFP and the Ministry of Agric, green technology is strengthening food security in @Zimbabwe.

Great progress this week as we met with key stakeholders to review our Country Strategic Plan. Stronger partnerships = stronger solutions to food insecurity in #Zimbabwe. 🇿🇼

This week we visited Mberengwa, where our support is reaching 8⃣3⃣0⃣0⃣0⃣ people — 🟢61% women 🔵29% men 🟣21 of 37 wards covered 🟤 59 Food Distribution Points (FDPs) Behind every number is a family. Behind this impact is the support of @JapanGov @EoJZimbabwe 🇯🇵

In Rushinga District, Mashonaland Central Province of Zimbabwe, the China-aid Juncao Technology Project is quietly taking root in both fields and households: green Juncao grass now carpets the fields, while clusters of fresh mushrooms are growing inside farmers’ homes. At this stage, the Juncao grass is under cultivation and showing healthy growth. Through joint efforts with the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of Zimbabwe, the project brings Juncao grass cultivation and mushroom production into farming families. It helps improve local feed conditions and creates diversified income-generating opportunities through mushroom production and related activities, turning green technology into a new bridge linking food security with sustainable livelihoods.

Now this is 🆒 @WFP is working with smallholder farmers to reduce food loss during the processing stages of the food chain. The cold hubs uses charcoal to regulate temperature 🌡️, this will help preserve and prolong the shelf life of the vegetables at these gardens

#Afghanistan: I'm here at a children's ward in a hospital in #Kandahar. These babies did nothing to deserve this. Yet, they're struggling to survive. What's heartbreaking is that this situation is completely avoidable. There's a cure for hunger, it's called FOOD.

Our #Nutrition Programme continues amid #COVID19 in #Kassala with precautionary measures. Many families have lost their incomes due to prolonged lockdown and restricted movements. This should not affect the growth of children under 5 and health of pregnant and lactating mothers.
