🇺🇸 CENTCOM has made a Request for Forces submission to have the US Army's Dark Eagle Long Range Hypersonic Weapon deployed to their Area of Responsibility. The justification is that Iran has moved their own missile TELs beyond the 500km range of the US Army's Precision Strike Missile. It would be the first combat deployment for the system, which has not yet completed operational testing. Via Bloomberg

The Pentagon’s fiscal 2027 budget request seeks 85 F-35 Lightning II fighters across the joint force, up from 47 in fiscal 2026. defensenews.com/news/pentagon-…

The Pentagon is considering outsourcing warship design and building to Korea and Japan with a proposed $1.85 billion feasibility study into the project within the proposed budget for 2027, with the study to look at the feasibility of adopting or co-producing advanced hulls such as Japan’s Mogami-class and Korea’s Daegu-class frigates to supplement the U.S. Navy, according to USNI News.

Progress toward fielding the 500+ km JDAM-Long Range (LR) was made possible in large part due to the resources in last year’s reconciliation bill. That legislation shored up munition programs and supply chains to bolster long-range strike inventories. Congress specifically funded the JDAM-LR along with other new munition efforts to fast track development, certification, and fielding.

The US Air Force plans to kick off Air Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW) Increment 2 development and stand up a new Air Launched Ballistic Missile (ALBM) program in Fiscal Year 2027. The service has set aside nearly $350 Million combined for these two efforts. ARRW Inc 2 builds enhanced capability onto the baseline DARPA/USAF Boost-Glide weapon, while ALBM effort integrates Air Force and other system technologies to field an air-launched, long-range strike capability that complements existing hypersonic weapons (ARRW & HACM).

The Space Systems Command, the U.S. Space Force’s acquisition arm, awarded SpaceX a $57 million contract to demonstrate satellite-to-satellite communications using Link-182, a radio-frequency data link standard the Space Force has adopted for its MILNET data relay network. MILNET is a planned constellation of Starshield communications satellites in low Earth orbit built by SpaceX. Link in thread.

The US Army Integrated Air and Missile Defense (A-IAMD) effort enables integration of several non Patriot or traditional Army SHORAD sensors into the AIAMD Fire Control Network (IFCN) to enable an expanded battlespace, generate fire-control quality tracks, and pair AIAMD shooters (Patriot, IFPC etc) with any JF or allied sensor available. The C band LTAMDS, X-Band Sentinel A4, L-Band AN/TPY-4, and S-Band AN/TPY-5(V)1 (digital TPS-80) are the first batch of organically IAMD/IFCN compliant next generation sensors being developed/fielded by the US Joint Force or industry. Allied sensors have already demonstrated an ability to connect into AIAMD via Plug and Fight (P&F) Kits as have legacy sensors (Patriot) and the passive ALPS. The US Army is also investing FY'27 RDT&E resources to integrate the F-35 platform and sensors into IAMD and its Fire Control Network (IFCN).
