The new GM in Detroit HAS to get the ship back on track. First order of business should be trading Debrincat to Edmonton. Then he can figure out Larkin and get an Iliitch tattoo on his lower back.

@NBI_Hockey @MikeBartner Trocheck, Myers, Hughes, Trouba all on record declining wanting to go… so before anyone pins FA signings being poor, much of it it was all that we’re willing…. I do agree though, that season they should have delayed FAs another year as a whole.

@NBI_Hockey @MikeBartner So if Trocheck is declining offers that tells us they are not a destination so it also tells us Yzerman did have as many options as you think he had. It’s easy to say he should have but that’s not real life…. Real life is over paying just to convince guys to come.

It’s not rocket science as to why Steve Yzerman got fired, the brotha was apocalyptically bad at pro scouting and thus couldn’t build a supporting cast around Raymond/Seider/Larkin/Edvinsson.

I mean, there's something to this but Yzerman had to realize how little they had left after years of going for it to make the playoffs.
Signings like Copp, Chiarot, and Compher didn't fit the timeline. All they did was eat cap space and made the team mediocre.

I’ve always said I thought the Yzerman hiring went like this: Stevie told illitch this rebuild will take awhile and Illitch said he’s ok with that. Then after a few years Illitch got tired of losing money and told him to step on the gas when it didn’t make sense to #LGRW

@JFreshHockey @jackgiofre If a GM has to find gems all over drafts what is the quality do the draft class? My question would that drafting into the Wings system is different. Who should have he picked instead… also found this for all teams what is the success ratio?

@jackgiofre it's not cherry picking to point out that a rebuilding GM couldn't find any impact players outside the top 6 while drafting for a team that didn't make the playoffs once the whole time he was there

Steve Yzerman has never been a good GM, he’s been hired off his name brand multiple times , they let it fall so far In detroit that the captain , whose literally from Detroit wants out of there , that is some all time bad stuff, not a single playoff birth under Stevie Y, aswell as relatively poor drafting, they shoulda done this much much much sooner, now you’re looking for a GM in mid July.
I woulda sacked him a couple years ago when you knew he wasn’t the guy, now they’ve made a shit stew.

Wings fans: If you had to pinpoint one moment that made you lose faith in the Yzerplan, what was it? Whether it was a trade, a UFA signing, a coaching change, or even a draft selection (acknowledging that scouting is a group effort).

Huge Opinion: Stevie Y out was long overdue. All I heard the last 5 years was how Stevie was impossible to work with. Arrogant and not willing to listen to others. Wings need to go outside the old school Wings family for the next GM.
