If I were looking to break NATO, I'd break the philosophy that undergirds all of it. The ahistorical philosophy of European unity. Since the cold war, they've channeled their tribal energies into this bizarre West vs. East phenomenon. It would only take some prodding before the cracks began to form and people remembered ancient rivalries. The French hate the British. The French and the British hate the Germans. The Italians hate everyone. The European Union was forged in order to wield bargaining power against the United States. I'd destroy it. And then I'd begin courting the fragments.

If it’s a one-way street, its a no-way street. And we will simply walk away. Good luck, Europe. We know you cant afford to re-arm. Your economies are barely keeping afloat as is. Now with energy prices exploding because you refused to help, you’re in serious trouble. Was cutting off your nose to spite your face worth it? What happens when Europe has a *real* security threat, & the United States decides ‘its not our war’? Europe is going to find out. The United states spent over $900 billion dollars on NATO last year, on top of our own defense budget. How does Europe think its going to make up a nearly $1 trillion dollar shortfall, & how does Europe think its going to replace the combat power on display in the Persian Gulf right now? This is the breaking point. This is one time too many. When war hawks like Lindsay Graham are saying its time to leave NATO, then Europe has err’d so badly that there isnt anyone of real consequence to stop the United States from splitting from NATO. Do we need to officially leave the treaty? No. Congress cant do anything to stop us walking away if they wanted to. And this has shattered those who would have fought withdrawal. All that is needed is for Dept of War & President to sequester & not spend the NATO funding, or spend it on US Military programs— like the Sentinel ICBM, B-21 Raider, ship building, hypersonic missiles, F-35s & F-15EX’s. And to refuse to participate in any NATO exercises or calls for help. That’s what the situation is now, created by Europe, & being made worse daily by Europe. NATO is done. There isn’t any going back now.

Ok, so the UN confirms gang rapes and sexualized torture on Oct 7th. Many were so vehement that mass rapes didn’t happen. Truly bizarre that they wanted to die on this hill. But it never made sense to me that many were like “No, no, the ‘freedom fighters’ didn’t rape, they just gleefully slaughtered innocent people in their homes and at a dance festival while filming the whole thing.” Barbaric, savage Hamas militants filmed themselves torturing and murdering people… but rape was your line? You really went with, “Yeah they slaughtered innocents and all that, which I guess is bad and all… but they aren’t rapists!!!”

One, there likely already are IDF special mission units operating in Iran, and the footprint we are sending in is SOF, not conventional, so the conventional IDF wouldn’t necessarily be involved regardless. Two, because they are fighting a different front of this war. They are pushing into Lebanon to destroy Hezbollah (which is an Iran proxy), while providing priceless HUMINT and strategic air support along with our systems. Three, because we are leading this conflict so that we have operational control over all aspects, which includes what boots go on the ground and for what purpose. Again, this will be a SOF led initiative and our troops will be best suited to complete the missions without issue. Four, because they are surrounded by Muslim countries that refuse to work with them, some of which are also our allies in this conflict against Iran, and they likely are not willing to share the battle space with Israel like they are with us. Yep, good ole fashioned blood feuds are real, especially in the ME. All of you people have such strong opinions about strategic warfare while knowing absolutely nothing about it…

For many years I had patients who were born to young Japanese executives who had been sent to the US for a few years. One mom didn’t speak any English at first but became fluent over time. When they left, she cried because they were taking her American son away from his home.
