WATCH-- @chrislhayes: It's easier to argue about what college kids are doing than to confront the human misery and destruction that's happening in the actual conflict which is, of course, the source of these protests.

Dr. @JasonBMartin, a critical care physician, has won the Democratic nomination for governor! His prescription for Tennessee: -Freedom to see a doctor without going broke -Protecting public school tax dollars -Freedom from gun violence and abortion bans -Legalizing cannabis

New York City data shows the unvaccinated are 30 times more likely to die than the vaccinated. But DeSantis' pick for Florida surgeon general can't tell if vaccines work. Fox News asserts that they're ineffective and dangerous. And some wonder why we can't get past the pandemic.

New Covid cases in the US have hit a record high. Most are mild, at least for the vaccinated. But hospitals are filling again with the unvaccinated. And deaths are up as well. Time for another expose on Critical Race Theory from Fox News.

The polarization of our General Assembly has led to some of the most extreme legislation in decades, including assaults on women’s health, failing to address climate change, stripping workers of their rights, and refusing to stand up to the epidemic of gun violence.

Vaccine mandates lead to higher vaccination rates. Vaccine mandates lead to lower hospitalization and death rates. Vaccine mandates are popular. Around 60 percent favor them for government, healthcare workers, and employees at large firms. Public officials should implement them.

Senator Manchin reportedly will kill the most important proposal to address climate change in current legislation. His decision threatens the planet and everyone on it, but the oil, gas, and coal industries will be happy. That's what makes him a "moderate" to the New York Times.

The Republican stance on vaccines is increasingly insane. The "freedom" to refuse vaccines and reject masks has always ignored everyone else's rights to be free from infection. Now Congressman Jim Jordan calls for an end to all vaccine mandates. We are returning to the Dark Ages.

It goes without saying that the constant parade of Covid deniers, vaccine skeptics, and other cranks on Fox News and the rest of the right-wing media system have deceived and endangered their own audiences and spread misery and death unnecessarily. Quite an accomplishment

Many have explained the lackluster jobs report yesterday on the delta wave. But it also shows the broader failure of the market. Government has to insure that the vaccine is adopted widely, through mandates if necessary, to provide safe environments for workers and customers.

Worth noting that Synema and Manchin are obstructing popular proposals. Quinnipiac just found 57-40 in favor of social spending even with the “scary” $3.5 trillion price in the question. 57 percent favor doing more on climate change, only 21 percent responded that we do too much.

More on the role of money: @lukebroadwater in the New York Times reports that business is showering money on Sinema and Manchin to oppose tax increases on business. Apparently the 25 percent rate is too much.
