My oldest kid never played tackle football until 9th grade.
He played rec league flag football in the city.
We spent about $70 per season,
plus cleats.
He was All CIF, All League, Team Captain and team's most valuable offensive player twice, as a lineman.
150 kids in the program.

Bad news, dude: If your kid doesn’t play travel/AAU they have no chance of playing varsity in high school. Only exceptions would be small, rural schools without many players to choose from. Any decent sized high school, every kid on varsity plays travel.

This just makes me really sad. How do we stop this type of thing from happening? Parents. Please. Think about your kids. They are watching everything you do and say. This guy should never be allowed on a field again let alone coaching young athletes.

My kid missed prom for a volleyball tournament.
Bc when we sign up for a sport, we know that means sacrificing some things.
There was no discussion over it. She never even brought it up as a question. We were 3 hours away from home. No arguments or tears.
& she balled out!

@coach_mel_redd You stated “we” signed up. That suggests you had influence over this decision. I get it, travel sports is expensive and there should be commitment. I don’t even want to know what we spent for 3 kids. But certain things in life you don’t get back.
