@PeterDyakowski CFL fans are stuck in dinosaur mode. Every other league has made changes to their playoff format. The CFL has the most negative fan base in all professional sports.

Stewart Johnston's basic premise for all that he does is that CFL fans will "get past it". What if many eventually don't? His gambling with the heritage which was entrusted to him as Commissioner is incredibly reckless. Limited upside, massive downside risk. No thank you!

@Priceyfm @PeterDyakowski Many have been calling for the elimination of divisions for years because of the so-called inferior East. I think this is a great way to address this without losing the divisions.

@PeterDyakowski Who wanted this? Who was saying that the playoffs needed to be better. I’m not against change I just can’t understand fixing something that wasn’t broken or even a concern? It just seems like a commissioner that thinks he is more important than the fans.

I have big reservations above 8/9 making the playoffs. Understand that going from 5 to 9 playoff games creates value from TV, sponsors, gate for players and teams. But I don’t love it. Expansion would help. #CFL

Why have a regular season?

@LWillson_82 If you call the play in round a wildcard game, then everyone will love it because that's what the NFL does. But then the numpties will hate that because "eff the NFL" and you're ruining the game. Get rid of the forward pass and let's get back to the real Canadian game.

I thought the CFL did a good job with the rule changes they announced last year. This new playoff format is awful and ruins the look of the league. Why play the regular season? I need someone to give me an explanation to how this is better than the current format.

@TSNDaveNaylor I don't hate this. Teams that squeak in and truly suck, will be lucky to make it to the elimination round. Great for the fans who would otherwise be turning to NFL or NHL. Or God forbid, USPORTS.

@TSNDaveNaylor Dave, issue is messaging. This should NOT be announced playoff format change. Rather a ‘Play-In’ round is added. Top 2 teams in each div play for bye to west/east final. Teams 3,4 in each div play for semi-final birth. BOOM; much easier to understand and no stupid 8/9 narrative
