Government should keep its promises, and a rail link from Downtown to Boulder and Longmont will serve both communities. But it needs to be affordable and a good use of taxpayer money. The right approach is to do it as part of FRPR, a rail line from Pueblo to Fort Collins.

I grew up hearing about SEIU. I’ve knocked doors with Local 105 members and watched them win fair wages and respect for workers here in Colorado. Service workers depend on transit. I’ll have their back and I’m deeply honored to have their support.

I first met Kate Williams four years ago and was deeply impressed by her servant leadership and dedication to @RideRTD's transit-dependent population. Fare free rides for youth is a crtically important change that simply would not have happened without her leadership.

Credit card tap to pay is critical for public transit and it’s phenomenal to see Las Vegas roll it out on the same hardware @RideRTD has. I’ve spoken with RTD leadership and they’re open to doing it here. I’m going to push hard to get it done soon. masabi.com/2023/12/18/las…

Some of our neighbors have drug problems, some of them have mental health problems. We can point and laugh, we can fearmonger, or we can find ways to get them to help they need and keep our streets safer in the process.

I’m going to take issue with this. RTD does need better on board staffing to create a welcoming and safe environment for *everybody*. But the line in there about 70% not being students or workers is just straight up bigoted toward the indigent. Everyone belongs on transit.

#1 thing they could put there is a wayfinding board. Gigantic screens protected with plexiglass that show things to do in Denver and how to get there and when they were open until. The botanic gardens, the homeless shelters, the migrant shelters, the movie theater, Coors Field

Public sanitation services also have a major impact on transit. There are a few things more unpleasant than sharing a bus or light rail train with someone who lacked a proper location to use the bathroom. And transit stations are a common choice in absence of better options.

Easily the best remarks I have ever given at City Council. I got scolded for using profanity (apologies @CWjamietorres) but I think the result was worth it. And public sanitation services for people experiencing homelessness is something we should all care about.

@la32273 @dobetterdnvr RTD is a government run service that has to compete in the market with a variety of other options like Uber, owning a car, biking, scooters. But to your point, we need people who recognize that competition, and treat RTD as a service that needs to compete to grow its users.
