One of the greatest honors of my life will always be the privilege of knowing and learning from Charlie.
Charlie was a man like no other — with profound vision, boundless love for his nation and people, and a deep sense of passion and conviction. He embodied the kind of man and leader we all aspire to become.
One of the last conversations I had the privilege of sharing with Charlie was about the students. He asked me, “What can we do to support students who continue to be attacked on campus? How can we stop it and protect them?”
Charlie’s greatest passion, one of his deepest loves, and a source of immense pride was always our @TPUSA students. He carried their struggles as if they were his own, and his commitment to them never wavered.
My heart is utterly broken. Broken by the senseless violence. Broken by the life so unjustly taken. Broken for Erika, who will no longer be able to be with and hold her husband. And broken for his children, who will never know Charlie as the man that we did.
You bore the weight of the world on your shoulders, Charlie, and you never once complained. Now please rest. We’ll carry it forward from here. Onward
