@GNev2 14 years, 5 prime Ministers, 6 Chancellors, Boris the clown, Brexit Cameron and Trussenomics have broken Britain. We are now the leper colony of Europe where everything is 25/30% cheaper than here. We’ll stop the boats, 800 arriving each day on average currently.

Invade the pitch so we don’t get beat 5-0. Embarrassing
Rishi Sunak@RishiSunak
Stop the supermajority. Vote Conservative on 4th July.

@campbellclaret I feel that the right has something up their sleeves. We know there will be last minute assaults from the media, but will there be a last minute te unity of Tory/Reform?

JUST BEEN LEAKED NOTE BY HEAD OF TORY CAMPAIGN (the one standing in for the one on leave of absence courtesy of William Hill) MEMO ALL CANDIDATES … THE REALITY. 1. We cannot campaign on our record because nothing has improved since we took office. 2. The biggest change we made last Parliament was Brexit and we can’t campaign on that because the people who hated it hate it more and the people who liked it know we have ballsed it up. 3. We can’t campaign on our leaders because we have had five in eight years which suggests none of them were very good. 4. We can’t campaign on Labour being a risk to security and the economy because nobody can do worse than we have and anyway people seem to think @Keir_Starmer is pretty decent and he is for sure not Corbyn. 5. So LADS, all we have left is this … behave like we have lost, it’s all over bar the shouting, towel thrown in, and hope to God millions of people don’t bother to vote us out because they think somebody else will do it. I know it’s desperate and a bit anti-democratic but needs must. We’re shit and we know we are and so this is it!!! Fuck everything up. Crash the car. Make ourselves look even more unelectable and useless at campaigns. Willie Whitelaw used to talk about travelling the country stirring up apathy. That is all we have left. Do it. Talk up supermajority. I know it is meaningless but it is the only way to stop the superdefeat we all know we deserve. Cheers. Btw we’re having Sunday drinks 1pm. BYOB 🍾 🥂 ps new slogan. STAY AT HOME. DON’T VOTE. KEEP THE TORIES haha!!

@henrywinter I agree Henry,
Change is too easy and usually requires wholesale appointments throughout the staff. Stick with him as Utd did with Fergie and give him a real chance.
English

Good news about Erik ten Hag. I thought he would be eased out because new owners like new appointments, some of the football was so poor and eighth is not good enough for #MUFC, but I’m glad Ten Hag's staying. He’s had injured players, distracted players, and still won another trophy. He outwitted Guardiola in the Cup final, so is tactically smart. He’s desperate to do well, he’s not ego-driven, most players like him and a constant churn of managers doesn't help. Needs better recruitment and better performances/in-game management against teams outside elite. But United can now focus properly on the new season. Under Ten Hag.

@henrywinter Winnings a habit. What happened to going into a tournament with confidence?

10 things we learned from #ENG loss to Iceland.
1: “Lord Nelson! Lord Beaverbrook! Sir Winston Churchill! Gareth Southgate! Your boys took one hell of a beating!” Iceland’s head coach Age Hareide was in the Norway team who embarrassed England in 1981 and triggered Bjørge Lillelien’s famous commentary. #ENGICE only a friendly but a famous and deserved win for Hareide’s Iceland here.
2: Pressing issue. “The most disappointing thing was we didn't press well. We have to press better, press the ball with intensity.” So said Southgate. England lacked urgency especially first half, partly why Iceland broke to score (12). Foden and Mainoo not quick enough to Haraldsson, who set up Thorsteinsson to elude Stones too easily and beat the slow-responding Ramsdale.
Rice was really the only one who pressed consistently first half, including on gk Valdimarsson. Contrast with Iceland pressing: Thorsteinsson, Haraldsson and Finsson ambushed Palmer. England were too open and didn’t keep the ball with sufficient intelligence or care. Would Grealish have protected it better?
3: Positives? Gordon brings something different to the left. Gets chalk on his boots, runs his full-back. Beat Bjarkason on a couple of occasions. Great second-half cut-back to Foden, who shot wide. But Foden should return to the left against Serbia.
4: How many No 10s? Foden dropped deep, released Trippier but promising start not maintained. The main feeling was where is the Man City Foden? Such a force for his club, the Footballer of the Year lacked impact here. Kane was more impressive, dropping back from No 9 to No 10 area to release Gordon, then dropped into centre-circle and swept passes to Walker three times. Palmer can play there.
A paper dart landed in the press box, taken from a sticker book and containing a picture of “complete baller” Bellingham. Help is at hand. Bellingham at 10 and Foden back left. Eventual return of the overlapping Shaw will assist Foden, who drifts inside to join Bellingham.
5: Positives? Guehi put in a series of important blocks, including from Traustason and was then knocked over, though not out, by Thorsteinsson shot. Painful. Doctors checked him. “Marc is fine,” Southgate said.
6: Changes. Can Southgate alter a game’s flow? Occasionally criticised for failing to react decisively, Southgate got his players to raise their intensity a bit after the break. Palmer made more runs into the area. Pressing was sharper, Kane and Gordon closing down quicker. Konsa replaced the injured Stones (h-t). Southgate twisted again (60). England now: Ramsdale; Alexander-Arnold, Konsa, Guehi, Gomez; Rice, Mainoo; Saka, Foden, Palmer; Toney. 75, Eze for Palmer. Changes made little difference, if anything England became even more disjointed. He accepted the fans’ frustration voiced with some boos at half-time, and more at the final whistle.
7: Corners. England slightly vulnerable defending them (Ingason would have scored but for Ramsdale) and far from imposing attacking them. Maguire’s presence missed.
8: Injury concerns: Stones got his right ankle trapped under Thorsteinsson. He looked rusty, coming into the game after only 111 minutes’ action in 48 days. “With John we decided at half-time there was no point in taking any chances (so subbed, had treatment). He’s a very important player for us.” Too right. 72 caps worth of experience.
9: Wembley, the stadium that never sleeps: a few England and Iceland players came out for a warmdown and were politely shepherded into one half. Pitch being mown in preparation for Challenge Cup final on Saturday. Taylor Swift soon playing eight concerts at Wembley. Stadium diary never has a blank space.
10: Portents. England have lost momentum (1 win in 5) but you can’t read too much into final games before tournaments: there have been warm-ups more notable for electric storm delays (2014), the agony of Cahill breaking his jaw (2012), Lampard missing a penalty (2010), and Sven making nine subs at half-time (2004). Against Iceland. Southgate found a positive: “Games going into tournaments can be scrappy. It gives us a chance to focus the mind.” They have nine days before Serbia.

Crystal Palace have ended Liverpool's unbeaten league run at Anfield!
A big blow to their title hopes.

@mrdanwalker Here here! Especially when you look at the Tory cronies and donors that have been knighted.

Love the fact that he has been honoured but does anyone else think it should be SIR KEVIN SINFIELD? Can’t think of anyone more deserving. He has shown all of us the true meaning of friendship and raised millions for his pal and transformed awareness along the way.

I agree #SarahVine @WestminsterWAG Britain is turning in to a “3rd world country”.
It began in 2016 with the #Brexit vote
Brexit is ruining our country - economically, culturally & politically - slowly diminishing the long term prospects of our children & grandchildren.

It's time for a completely new start
A thought - all MPs should have to do 3 months probation working as, for example,
1 mth hospital Porter
1 mth on the bins
1 mth as a carer
Before they can take up their jobs in parliament
Pls add other options 🤍

@jessphillips It inevitably begs the question, what are you trying to hide?

@GNev2 I went with Utd in your days Gary representing the MEN and a result like this away from home against Rael Madrid would be a workmanlike result to conclude and complete at home.
English

@GNev2 It seems to me that the refs assistant looks and allows just a small part of the ball/shadow to be on the line.
