Really cool BTS clip from 'Rise of the Cybermen' with the multi-camera set-ups.
One reason it takes so much longer to make TV now is that multi-camera dramas are much rarer. I can't remember the last time I worked on a scripted show that was multi-cam.

@GUYCALLEDG30RGE @Firlows I think the next era will be very controlled by bbc studios. I think bad wolf had more control this time. Hopefully stuff like millenium fx will stick around and not be done in house like half of s12 and flux. Kinda wish they’d back off to just sorting the events and merch

@ChrisHS502 @Firlows my understanding is that S10 was more complete by the time Studios started asserting themselves, so they basically got a vanity credit on it. S11 was still in the early stages, and I heard they + the Writer's Guild upended what Chibnall wanted to do with his writer's room plans

thirteen's era is legitimately really good, but when trying to make people think an episode of hers is that, i think picking the episode blatantly full of production issues, censorship and cut scenes on top of a generic plot is perhaps ill advised.

@GUYCALLEDG30RGE @Firlows BBC studios handled the show from s10 onwards though right? Moffat kinda pushed back but since 2018 they were pretty much in charge iirc

@Firlows it's particularly insane considering the gaps between production and release are far longer than before on nearly all of these. I think people don't talk enough about management going from BBC Wales (publicly owned) to Studios (commercial arm) being a big part of this

@the_jackalope_ @DrWhom42 I realised rewatching series 6 recently that Moffat’s idea of Ten in episode 1 dying and Amy meeting the younger version afterwards until he becomes that dying doctor in the finale is something he pretty much lifted later

this is, within text, how matt had been set up. outside text, the bbc were threatening cancellation, and matt was so frustrated with his reception that during series 5 filming, he'd punch a pillow.

murray has said david likely got the part because russell and julie were running between doctor who rushes and casanova rushes when chris was leaving, and they knew david would say yes given he's a fan.
he is the only doctor not to even audition! they just went round his house!
