@SamDmsc Put it on the grill with some flames! If I burned a prime piece of meat I’d tar and feather myself in dishonor for the cow that made such a pretty piece of meat.

@ChrisJacksonSC You’re a fuggin’ weatherman. You can’t reliably tell me if it’s going to rain tomorrow, let the adults handle this.

When weather is an issue in Atlanta, Atlanta Center usually keeps the 4 arrival routes into Hartsfield-Jackson extremely clean with everyone going to a hold, but today lol. Today looks like it was a circus full of nonstop requests - (can we get 10° right or 20° left for this storm 30 miles in front of us.” Honestly has been a long time since I saw so many crazy routes trying to get into Atlanta. And most failed with 23 diversions currently and growing by the minute. Here is who is getting them below. Hartsfield-Jackson International 23 inbound diversions to: BHM(5), AGS(3), BNA(3), CHA(3), JAX(2), CAE(1), CLT(1), GSP(1), MCO(1), MEM(1), and SAV(2).

The cluster of storms last night in western Lexington and Aiken counties produced some of the best lightning of the year. Here are two shots I took from the UPS Ramp at @iFlyCAE … The dark mass behind the ramp lights in the second shot was the beginning of a downburst that occurred out near Gilbert. @NWSColumbia #scwx #caewx

@plocola 1hr 12mins at O’Hare? Phew. Don’t get caught up sightseeing. Depending on how long the taxi is to the ramp and the distance between gates, you aren’t going to have much more time than to maybe use the ladies room real quick. But that sounds amazing!

@ChrisJacksonSC Thx, Chris! I'm interested, 'cause I'm flying to Alaska in August, leaving CAE at 6:35a. One stop at ORD for 1 hr 12 mins, both United flights. I have signed up for w/c assistance. Trying to learn all I can. Have not flown since 1999! Fingers crossed all goes well!

Delta 2526 from Palm Beach to LaGuardia has made a U-Turn over Wilmington, NC and is diverting to CAE. Why? Weather. New York is currently getting hammered with storms and LGA is now on a ground stop. Rather than getting closer to LGA then having to hold for an extended period of time and then having to divert and more battle storms across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, they’ve elected to divert now.

@plocola Depending on whatever their dispatch says as far as expected delay, they’ll probably use a gate and deplane into the terminal. They’ve done it in the past.

@ChrisJacksonSC Do you think they will hang out on the plane at CAE for a bit, then be able to fly on to LGA in a few hours?

If you’re new to aviation and are watching the thousands of arrivals into Oshkosh on FR24, or other tracking apps, here’s a nugget for you. Any aircraft flying southwest along the west of the lakes are in the naughty box because they were unable maintain the altitude/speed requirements of 1,800ft and 90kt or 2,300ft at 135kt and the given spacing instructions. So they’ve been thrown out of line by ATC and they have to fly all the way back to the transition to try again. There is no room for error so the controllers will quickly turn you around until you get it right.

The Mooney mass arrival into Oshkosh this morning is loaded deep for runway 36. 20+ miles long. I’d bet there are 3-4 times as many aircraft actually in line with everyone flying in flights of 2-3 aircraft with only 1 aircraft transmitting for each flight. One of the coolest things about Airventure is being able to take your plane whether it’s a Cessna, Beechcraft, Mooney, etc etc and take part in a mass arrival of 100+ aircraft.

Yes it’s actually perfect form and there’s nothing to be critical of. Hear me out. There is no human on planet earth with a stroke powerful enough to be able to cross a river flowing this hard without going downstream in the process. With that… 1. That’s why at the beginning he goes upstream *where he has the ability to* using the eddy of a tree to assist him.. 2. Once he hits this turbid area called the boil line he explodes into the river (this is where the laminar flow of the river meets the eddy, it forms very turbid helical currents and takes strength to bust through it). 3. Once in the river he noses the kayak in a 45° angle facing upstream. This angle in relationship to the water flow (current vector) is the most effective and efficient way to cross the river and this angle also offers exceptional directional control. 4. He knows he can’t get across that river in a straight line bc no one can. Not even a rescue boat with an engine could. 5. With that knowledge and understanding basic hydrology in all moving bodies of water, there’s always going to be an area on the opposite side of the river with eddies or non laminar flow from the helical component. Once there, you can easily go back upstream like he did to start the video. Not being rude at all, genuinely trying to educate here. Here are examples of this in the basic hydrology portion I would teach h to professional rescuers. Hope this helps. :)

@ChrisJacksonSC Thanks for passing these pictures along Chris! Saw multiple downburst signatures on radar in that cluster, but have not received any reports of damage at the moment.

Hey @NWSColumbia I don’t know if yall had any damage reports out of the Gilbert area, but this storm tonight had one heck of a rain bomb/downburst somewhere right around I-20 @ Exit 44 (Pond Branch & Neely Wingard Rd area) that began around 10:26 through 10:34pm ish. I had the camera facing 250 degrees from the UPS lot at CAE. #scwx #caewx
