Tried updating to #unity6 today, ran into a major problem with rendering. Seemed to be shadows at first but, even when disabled the artifacts still occur. Does anyone have any suggestions for fixes? #unity #unitysupport #unity6

Yeah I made a really simple itch game chrishatch.itch.io/patience with a preview of 6 a few months back and it went great! No hiccups, solid performance and amazing water/lighting performance. Though that was HDRP and Directional lights, so I wouldn’t have hit this URP + SpotLight use case

@TheRealEricHu @ChrisMHatch it depends on the scale, goals, and target platform(s) of the project. we've been using unity 6 for projects since it was in preview but our scope is relatively limited and usually only targeting one platform at a time. (compared to a medium to large cross-platform project).

@TheRealEricHu @LooperVFX Yeah, there are a lot of positives to upgrading but, not worth the downsides visually atm. Adaptive probes were very cool to play with, Resident Drawer, and the upscaler as you mentioned.

@ChrisMHatch @LooperVFX Yup it’s really too early to upgrade to unity6 for an existing project atm. Since the stability is still not there yet. Though in the mid term it might be worth considering upgrading it since the stp upscaler can potentially free lots of performance for mobile projects.

@TheRealEricHu @LooperVFX Just tried in my test project, enabled or disabled I get the same result. However, I did discover something around the SpotLights. When their influence cone influencing the artifact prevalence #unity6

@TheRealEricHu @LooperVFX I've reverted the project since my tests but, is the resident drawer on by default in Unity 6? Might be worth another test without the drawer enabled...but, if reflection probes are broken that is pretty fundamental too, so still a no go for upgrading

Just tried using #unity6 in the default URP sample. Massive rendering artifacts present. Same as witnessed in my game's project. -macOS 14.7 - MacBook Pro M1Max - Unity 6000.0.23f1 Scene - Two Spotlights overlapping - No Directional Light - Everything else is default to URP sample #unitysupport
