A genuine question for the “Forever Canada” crowd. If your position is that Alberta should remain in Canada, that’s your right. But where is your line? Canada’s federal debt is currently around $1.3 trillion. Projections suggest it could approach $3 trillion by 2030 if current fiscal trends continue. When Stephen Harper left office, the federal debt was roughly $590 billion. At what point do you say, “Enough”? Alberta continues to contribute billions to the federation while many young Canadians are being priced out of home ownership and facing a future of higher taxes and more debt. So I’m asking honestly: what would have to happen before you believe the current path isn’t sustainable? Is there a limit, or are you comfortable leaving the next generation to deal with the consequences? I’m interested in hearing where your line is.
