A unique 1970s house in Camden, London has been listed at Grade II. ✨
34 Belsize Lane was designed by architect Georgie Wolton as a home and studio for herself and her family. She made an important contribution to post-war Modernism in England.

Rare Victorian buildings at risk in Manchester! 📣🛑
We are very disappointed that the plans to demolish 31-33, King Street West have been recommended for approval.
Why we, @thevicsoc and @SAVEBrit oppose these plans ⬇️ 1/4

The stunning Grade I listed @BostonMnrHouse in London is reopening. 🎉
@LBofHounslow has brought the House back to life after many years at risk. 🚧
The restoration was possible thanks to funding and specialist support from ourselves, @HeritageFundUK and many partners.

The odd and ancient atmosphere of the relatively little known Channelsea River with the magnificent 7 listed Gasholders of Bromley-by-Bow and Canary Wharf beyond. Seen here in 2021. Image Chris Redgrave ©️Historic England Archive.

@nerissa_taysom @bbcproms @dbatesconductor @lanuovamusica @nickythespence @helencharlston @NardusWilliams @jamesn103 @benmckee77 I listened to this on BBC sounds the next day. The guitar solo breakdown (what’s that section called ?!) Was amazing, this interpretation was like wild Spanish Flamenco almost.
English

Not many things I would have exited my cold bath for today, but Dido & Aeneas @bbcproms was GORGEOUS! Exuberant, generous music making. 💙 Congratulations @dbatesconductor @lanuovamusica @nickythespence @helencharlston @NardusWilliams @jamesn103 & of course @benmckee77 💙

@theohonohan @helenbarrett Unfortunately I think that’s how he ended up, & sort of became the cartoon version of him, but he was a thoughtful and sensitive writer before. I think that’s why he is loved, because he had an emotional and involved response to all buildings and places, not just the pubs?
English

@ChrisRedgrave1 @helenbarrett I don't get how the architectural class in the UK can revere this immoderate angry guy who drank himself to death. Particularly when he's writing about pubs, the whole thing is poisoned by his suffering. It must take a degree of callousness to "appreciate" this tragic history.
English

Ian Nairn writing movingly about The Red Lion, Duke of York Street, Westminster, in 1966. The pub has just had its listing updated.

@GeraintFranklin @openhouselondon Thanks Geraint. Was delighted when AJ @ArchitectsJrnal used this straight on view in the printed edition as it had been a bit of a wait for the fleeting moment the sun was only on the Ferry St building and the rest in shade! architectsjournal.co.uk/news/listing-f…
