#EDH5309 Wk 6 prompt 4 (not really). For cohort 4 out there, last assignment in the last class. Smile when you submit and enjoy it. For everyone else you will get here quicker than you think.
@ChallenWelling1#EDH5309 I use the phrase transitional distance. Social media is reducing the time between communications. Wanting on an email is getting to slow for students, but of course my students are expecting me to be available 24/7 now
It speaks to what I think my main takeaway is from this course: balance. Socials and tech are here to stay and necessary, and personal communication cannot be forsaken. #EDH5309
One of the authors I really appreciated during this course was Gabriel Egan because they showed the importance of in person communication while also respecting the necessity of social media. #EDH5309
#EDH5309 Wk6 Pt3 - to say the least I don't fit in this course, I dont share. We need to lead our institutions brand to reach the students where they are at. Your division does something great post it everywhere, brag. It is about the students go find them where they are at
#EDH5309 Wk6 Pt2 - @JoeSabado thank you for adding your insight in our course. Technology for all, well at least internet. I am a whopping 10 miles outside of town and 3 MBPS. Lived on mobile broadband last year, cost me a ton my students couldn't possible afford it.
#EDH5309 Wk6 Pt2 - @ItsDrMordecai Thank you participating in our course. Hopefully we learned some news tricks this year. Congrats on your first 5K, and its a small world I just applied for a job right down the road from you. Who thought Tallahassee and Aurora are that close.
#EDH5309 Wk 6 Prompt 1. Even though we strive for the same goals very semester, the way we get there is constantly changing. The way we reach our students is in constant flux.
@EmilyOstermeyer@cjanelacosta I agree this isn't over. Not alone is COVID lingering I don't believe students have really figured out exactly what they want yet either.
This week's #panel was filled with so many gems! I really appreciated the acknowledgement that was made by @ItsDrMordecai about understanding the relevance of the times as educators in #highered#EDH5309
#EDH5309 W5 P2 - Moving I think will challenge leadership, how do we keep the lessoned learned with the external political pressure to return to normal. How do I convince leadership to keep investing in technology to improve the remote learning modalities?
@cjanelacosta I really appreciate you pointing out not-so-serious. I have been struggling with being professional at all times in an unprofessional environment
#seriousacademics & #phdlife were hashtags that I had a lot of fun with because ironically enough, it shows the not-so-serious side of academia. This demystifies faculty life for me. We can be serious about our work AND enjoy to live-tweet RHOP every week. #EDH5309
#EDH5309 W5 P1 - I think the main I am taking away from #edleadership#scichat#edtech is getting use to twitter. Specially when it comes to frequency and how much content to provide in the limited characters
#EDH5309 Wk4 P2 - I believe controlling the schools brand should be tightly controlled by individuals with the skill set. That being said at community colleges with no interns, RA's it all would fall with marketing and marketing has no clue what is going on inside divisions.
#EDH5309 wk4 P1 - What do you think is to get marketing involved in division programs? Im at a community college marketing shows up with a plan, but it seems to be only generated inside marketing. My school is too small to have individuals in programs to drive any campaigns.
@1Kimberly_Moore#EDH5309 No I don't. Faculty hiring committees at our institution already limit no social media on new hires. I see the need like for you to have a "work force" persona online not a personal one
A7 - While this class has been about adding to digital presence (both institutionally and personally), are there any technologies that you’d like to see removed?
#EDH5309
#EDH5309 A7. We have been presented a lot of data about the use and necessity of using of social media by organizations or groups instead a big system. How do you keep personal social media separate for work persona? How are you controlling your audience?
#EDH5309 A6. More use of the myTCC app (private Facebook version) for cohort building and group creation. And be more active in my clubs Facebook pages
