@cjanelacosta I'm quick to put my phone on airplane or DND for even a few hours. It is so helpful. On the flip side, I'll spend hours watching mom youtubers and I'm like "how did I get here?" lol

One of the authors I really appreciated during this course was Gabriel Egan because they showed the importance of in person communication while also respecting the necessity of social media. #EDH5309

@ColquhounJacob I am in agreement here. This is one of the things I love (and maybe dislike lol) about working in Higher Ed. The students relatively stay the same age, I'm the one getting older lol

@rodkelley My nephew would be thrilled with an Elmo Gif lol and yes, I think it does help unveil a lot of that hidden curriculum for marginalized folks.

@ChallenWelling1 Your comment makes me think. Does the use of social media to disseminate information help to reduce the effects of social capital and create a more even playing field those who are not commonly "in the know" or have "the right connections?" Hmm... #EDH5309

One common theme I've heard throughout the course from all the panelist was using social and tech platforms to bridge the access gap. #EDH5309

#EDH5309 W1 P2: Thank you to the panelists for discussing the future of HE! I think the most important takeaway I got from this is how can we maintain diversity and equity in an evolved, more technologically competent HE world! @ItsDrMordecai @TJLogan @JoeSabado

@ItsDrMordecai Thank you for your talk! I agree we need more accessible and equitable tech and internet for students; the digital divide became so apparent during covid; student input can assist with deciding effective or not effective solutions to remove barriers! #EDH5309

@Hatcher_Kris I find we are doing this in almost a speed dating way now. Many of my students when interested in someone will ask for a social handle instead of a number, and now we're in a place of asking for handles instead of email. #fullcircle #EDH5309

I really enjoyed the panelist speaking on the future of ed tech with #EDH5309. A common theme that I appreciated throughout the conversation was as @TJLogan stated, there is a big push to return to the comfortable, but let's not forget the lessons learned. I love that approach.

Lastly, I was following #hiring, & while I was initially following for tips and tricks on how to land the job, it surprisingly posted a lot of job opportunities. Many of them weren't education focused, but highlighted several jobs of interest that I didn't know existed. #EDH5309

The #olympictrials information was super helpful for when I wanted to catch an event & provide highlights when I could not watch. It enlightened me to all of the politics surrounding the olympics that was seemingly unheard of, but podcasts showcased that wasn't true. #EDH5309

Over the course of the semester, I've seen the hashtags I tweeted about grow. #Educolor is an educational equity tag for activists of color working in their community & I'm glad I followed this hashtag b/c it gives me things to think about and affirms my passions for ed equity.

@EmilyOstermeyer I love the idea of looking at it from a socio-ecological standpoint. Every level plays an important role in content creation and feedback looping.

@rodkelley Yes, we should definitely be leaning more into the strengths of others and also not recreating the wheel where it isn't needed.

One of my takeaways from this week's panel with @IAmJennyPetty @TylerAThomas @KristaBoniface was to see marketing as an intentional practice instead of a response to an immediate need. Deliberative messaging should be met with deliberative practice. (pt.1) #EDH5309
