@Suthernmarine25 @oliverburdick Also, Mary is God's greatest creation. Ever. She's not divine and Catholicism has NEVER claimed she is. Stop the lies or stop the ignorance. Use the internet to do research instead of spreading what YOU think is the truth.

@Chris_Fauteux @oliverburdick This is the GRAVE mistake Catholics make when they pray to Mary INSTEAD of OUR SAVIOR Jesus Christ. Adding to the Bible to claim legitimacy of Mary’s divinity is wrong. Jesus is THE ONLY ONE worthy of such praise. Mary is a dirty rag like the rest of us who need Him.

I grew up evangelical, the weird kid who constantly studied his Bible. I converted to Catholicism at 20. I went to adoration & prayed the rosary. I found the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 37. I’ve already seen what Rome and Geneva have to offer. I choose Zion.

Wow, this one blew up. Thanks for all your support! and not too many negative comments. I started going to church 3 years ago, was baptized that summer. I later baptized my wife and my oldest son. It's been an incomparable blessing. Temple worthiness has been a long journey,

Moses interceded for his people when God wanted to destroy them. God listened to Moses, an imperfect sinner. So you're telling me that God will not listen to His greatest creation ever, Mary? She does indeed intercede and brings those prayers to her Son the one and only Mediator.

@Ray_BlueThunder @Chris_Fauteux @oliverburdick And only Jesus. Not Mary, not saints, not rituals, man made titles, no popes, no hail Mary’s. Mary will have her regality. She will have a crown no one else sill and she will sit at the right hand of Jesus. But she isn’t a savior nor intercessor.

It's not a bad question and the answer is that Irenaeus gives us the earliest detailed list around 180 AD while secular historians will attest to the existence of the list of popes in the early 300s and on as christianity was illegal before then. Secular historians didn’t bother keeping a list of bishops because Christianity was basically an underground movement, and Roman writers saw it as a weird superstition and not something worth tracking. The Church itself was the only one keeping records, which is why we rely so much on those early Church Fathers for the names.

@StarkaliciousTS @BibleInContext1 He did, thank you! 26 years ago. I fell in love with Christ because His mother magnifies Him. She brought me to her Son. I am home with the family of God and the fullness of the Christian faith. Peace be with you

Apparently, the Catholic Jesus is too busy and difficult to reach so you are encouraged to go through the Catholic Mary instead! Catholics have another Jesus!

Jesus is indeed the one Mediator. But nowhere in scripture does it say that Jesus is the one intercessor. Quite the opposite. You are incorrect in saying that God has not given authority to saints to intercede. Paul, writes, and others, for all of us to intercede for one another. In the Book of Revelation , it is written “They cried out in a loud voice, “How long will it be, holy and true master, before you sit in judgment and avenge our blood on the inhabitants of the earth?” Is this not proof that saints are aware of happenings on earth? This is a request by the Saints (in heaven) on behalf of those on earth. That is the definition of intercession.

And not all non-Catholic Christians are taught as you are, and although well meaning, may be in error. Praying to Mary or the Saints is not a need. It is a request in holy scripture to intercede for one another. Is Mary not more alive in heaven than you or I? Of course she is. All Saints in heaven have been perfected. Death does not separate us. We intercede for one another. We are family. I will pray for you and I hope you will pray for me.

Just to clarify, when prayers to the saints are answered, it’s because they interceded for us through Jesus Christ, the one Mediator between us and God the Father. Any answered prayer or miracle happens only because God allows it and not because the saint has any divine powers of their own. That’s a very important distinction, and honestly one that I’m sure many Catholics don’t fully understand. We Worship God alone. We are part of the same family of God with angels and saints. Angels and saints on earth and in heaven are united in Christ. As members of that family, we intercede for each other. Those that are in heaven, do not need our intercession, but we indeed need theirs.

So the Mother of God is not in heaven?? So your argument is that no one is in heaven now? Too many Bible verses that support the contrary. As for heaven, Jesus descended to the dead after his crucifixion to free those there who have been waiting for their Savior. They are in “Paradise” 1 Peter 3:18–19: Christ was "put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, in which he also went and preached to the spirits in prison" 1 Peter 4:6: "For this is why the gospel was preached even to the dead" Ephesians 4:8–9: St. Paul writes that before Jesus ascended, he "also descended into the lower parts of the earth," leading a "host of captives" Acts 2:24, 31: During his Pentecost sermon, St. Peter quotes King David, affirming that Christ was "not abandoned to Hades," so he was there but was raised from its power.

Y’all don’t need to try to bully me. lol. I’m a grown man married with four children. We can have an intellectual conversation. We are Christian’s aren’t we? Should we not share with love? Regarding your statement or accusations: We don’t add to Scripture but rather we read it in light of the whole faith handed down by the Apostles. “Blessed” is literally in the Bible (Luke 1:48 “All generations will call me blessed”). The Immaculate Conception flows from Scripture: Mary is called “full of grace” (Luke 1:28 kecharitomene = completely graced) and the New Eve who says “yes” where Eve said “no.” As for Intercessor: The saints in heaven clearly intercede (Revelation 5:8; 8:3-4). Asking Mary to pray for us is no different than asking you to pray for me (James 5:16). The Bible never says “everything must be explicitly stated in Scripture.” That’s your tradition, not the historic Christian one. The early Church believed these things long before the canon was closed. BTW, I know where you’re coming from. I came from the same place and tried to prove Catholicism wrong. I couldn’t. And believe me I tried and the last thing I wanted was to become Catholic. God had other plans. Christ is Lord!

We don’t claim Mary is omniscient, omnipresent, or almighty , that’s a misunderstanding. Only God is. We simply believe the saints in heaven are alive, aware, and able to intercede because they’re perfected in Christ (Hebrews 12:1, Revelation 5:8, 6:9-10). God, who is omnipotent, allows them to hear and pray for us, just as He allows living Christians to intercede for one another (James 5:16). Nowhere does the Bible say we can’t ask glorified saints in heaven to pray for us. The burden is actually on you to show where Scripture forbids it. I don’t need to commit heresy to bolster my point.

Let’s work this out theologically. Those who have died in Christ are not “dead” but alive with Him Luke 20:38; Hebrews 12:1, 22-23 The Bible shows the saints in heaven are aware of earthly events and intercede for us…the 24 elders present the prayers of the saints on earth to God Revelation 5:8 and the great cloud of witnesses surrounds us Hebrews 12:1 Asking them to pray for us is no different than asking living fellow Christians to pray James 5:16; 1 Timothy 2:1 it’s the communion of saints in action. Jesus is the one Mediator 1 Timothy 2:5 but that doesn’t stop members of His Body from interceding for one another, whether on earth or in heaven. The Church has always honored this reality. Neither of us have authority to interpret scripture, so that should be left to the church that Christ founded. Of course, you are free to believe as you wish. For me, through extensive reading and prayer, I chose 2000 years of consistency. Please know that the Bible you read was compiled and canonized by the Catholic Church hundreds of years after Christ died. Oral Tradition given by Fathers of the Church and protected by the Holy Spirit is how the gospel was shared…along with writings from the apostles and Mark, Luke, James and Jude of course too. I would challenge you, respectfully, on your belief in those that have died in Christ. Christ went to the dead after his crucifixion to free those that could not enter before His sacrifice. They, like the thief on the cross, are indeed in Heaven. Those that are being prepared for Heaven, are in purgatory.
