@dr_musgrave I feel like I find out what goes on when I’m not looking! It’s incredible how they play to the imaginary gallery isn’t it?

I can’t be the only person who finds endless selfies & ridiculous videos on their phone that their children have surreptitiously recorded? I’ll miss it when they’ve grown up.

A mere ten minutes into today's UK Covid Inquiry hearing with Boris Johnson and the Inquiry is bedding down in its view that the central failure was to plan for school closings and that the determination of the Government to keep schools open was nothing short of reprehensible.

@sarahrutherfor2 @ClareCraigPath This is the crux of- pensioners the largest group consuming health are the least able to access services digitally. Private enterprise would call that not customer centric …

@ClareCraigPath We’re already having a nightmare with 90 yr old mother in law trying to access information and appointments with a GP that now doesn’t do phone calls for either. At what point are they going to realize that people need human contact - wherever we are!

@dr_musgrave That is ludicrous! What about non clinical waste?! You shouldn’t have to take wrappers home

This isn’t a dig, but in order to save money at my NHS GP surgery workplace, we do not have use of standard bins (ie. We have to take all our waste home from lunchtime etc). I’ve never previously worked for an organisation that felt that cash-strapped. 😬

The highest level of evidence demonstrates that Yoga is not useful for patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) which is associated with a host of mental health disorders. Symptoms of IBS as well as mental health did not improve.

@ShaunLintern It’s unbelievable in this digital age that the NHS haven’t embraced technology better - basic communication severely lacking. Still getting everyone to ring at 8.30am, unable to contact patients by preferred means and giving a4 hour window for a phone consultation to name just 3

So a patient known to be unable to speak being sent repeated telephone appointment letters. Number to call on the letter is of course not correct. Given an alternative that just rings out. No email address. This is simple stuff that magnified across the NHS has huge impact.

Little Chance is having a bit of a harder day today. I had to force her to do a bunch of stuff for her own good which took its toll. I keep telling her things are already getting better… (1/7) 🧵

I'm not sure which is causing more harm... those who propose banning tech from childhoods, or those saying 'nothing to see here' 🤔

Bishop of Manchester argues for religious exemption from child abuse reporting law (which IICSA rejected). Notable that this bishop didn’t turn up to an earlier parliamentary debate on mandatory reporting, but turns up now to argue for religious privilege secularism.org.uk/news/2025/04/l…

The day before my 41st birthday I am pleased to have faced my biggest fear - heights and managed to climb and abseil down a 40m cliff edge over the ocean. Magnificent (and terrifying)! My 11yo made it look easy!

Tonight is the first night of Passover. Most religions use foods in a symbolic way and the Passover meal - the Seder - is a meal like no other with foods which are only eaten once a year. The Last Supper is believed to have been a Passover meal (which is why Easter follows Passover/ Pesach and why it’s of interest to Christians even if Jesus had a different sort of Passover meal). I’ve done a little thread for those who are interested 👇🏼🧵

@dr_musgrave @thetimes I’m just not convinced banning is the answer - children do what they see and adults need to set a better example. Schools also have let the cat out the bag with homework and learning apps. Even in schools where phones are banned kids use them. They’ve become digital dummies

@ChristineMBrett @thetimes The problem is it’s the kids without engaged parents who suffer the most. Without a parent limiting their screens at home, if they then use them all day at school, it can become like oxygen to them - completely consumed by it. Legislation would really benefit these children.

It is getting smart phones away from kids so they can be kids, not the robots of big tech.
artee@artee_49

@KirstieMAllsopp But is it about actually getting smartphones away from kids or about trying to promote censorship on social media? There’s two ways this can go.
