Very sad to hear former RAF Pathfinder Nav, Jack Dark has died aged 102. You served your country well Jack. Thank you for your courage & sacrifice. His son Chris said, “He joined up before being called up. The question he could never answer was why he joined the RAF. He said he just thought it would be more of a clean death in a plane than drowning at sea or on the battleground.”

Rest in peace, Captain Charles G. Speight, USN (1922–2025). One of the last WWII Navy fighter pilots, a Hellcat and Corsair ace who flew from carriers like USS Hornet and USS Essex in the Pacific, has taken his final flight at age 103. His wings carried the fight for freedom over places like the Philippine Sea and Okinawa. Long after the war, his humility, faith, and gentle humor kept carrying the lessons of that Greatest Generation to everyone fortunate enough to hear his stories. Fair winds and following seas, sir.
