@thinkingwest America lent 🇬🇧 money after WW2 with the condition that we got rid of our colonies. America doing similar thing now trying to withdraw from NATO, as it can no longer afford to run its own empire. What goes up, eventually comes down.

@Handre Problem is the impulse of the politician (central bankers are politicians masquerading as economists) in a time of crisis is to appear to be doing something.

While Keynes blamed the Great Depression on market failures and demanded government intervention, Friedrich Hayek delivered the real explanation in his brilliant 1931 lectures "Prices and Production." The Austrian economist laid out precisely how central bank credit expansion creates unsustainable booms that must end in devastating busts. Hayek explained that when central banks artificially lower interest rates below their natural market level, they distort the price signals that coordinate economic activity. Entrepreneurs receive false information about consumer preferences and available savings. They launch investment projects that appear profitable but consume resources that don't actually exist. The Fed had done exactly this throughout the 1920s, pumping credit into the economy and fueling the speculative mania that Keynes and his followers mistook for genuine prosperity. The inevitable crash came in 1929 when reality reasserted itself. Malinvestments had to be liquidated. Workers had to move from unsustainable industries back to productive ones. Prices had to adjust to reflect actual supply and demand conditions. This painful but necessary correction process would have restored the economy to health relatively quickly. Policymakers followed Keynesian logic instead. They propped up failing businesses, prevented wage adjustments, and launched massive government spending programs. President Hoover increased federal spending by 50% between 1929 and 1932. Roosevelt doubled down with the New Deal's alphabet soup of interventions. Each program delayed the natural healing process and prolonged the depression for over a decade. Hayek's analysis stands vindicated by history while Keynesian demand management continues wreaking havoc through boom-bust cycles worldwide. The next time politicians promise to spend their way out of recession, remember who actually explained what went wrong in the 1930s.

@thinkingwest I would argue Latin American is Western. Except in pockets of predominantly indigenous culture. All major cities in LA are Western.

My thoughts go out to Tulsi Gabbard and her family, as her husband battles this serious health problem. I hope and pray that he makes a speedy and full recovery. While the circumstances around her departure are deserving of our sympathy, let’s be clear: Tulsi Gabbard’s only positive contribution to our nation's national security is her resignation. She politicized intelligence. She dismantled critical agencies keeping Americans safe. She weaponized the IC to pursue baseless election fraud claims. And more. We must ensure that her tenure — marked by a devotion to the person of the president and not to the security of the country — represents a terrible exception at DNI and not the new normal.

Bezos went on CNBC yesterday and said "You could double the taxes I pay and it's not gonna help that teacher in Queens." And all the bureaucrats and socialists lost their minds. Promise the teacher a raise. Tax everyone. Launder the money through Washington. Then blame the billionaire. We aren't morons Ro, we've seen this before. Bezos said the bottom half of earners should pay zero federal income tax. A nurse in Queens making $75K hands the IRS $12K a year. He said cut it to zero. She keeps her full paycheck. No bs refund, paperwork or shady government program. Simple. They won't do it. And you should ask yourself why. They don't ACTUALLY want to help anyone. They just want to pretend they tried and get your votes while making you hate the ppl they scammed. They want the money to flow through Washington, the city, every ponzi department and consultant and charity so each one can wet their beak. By the time it reaches the teacher it's maybe $100, if that... And then they'll blame the billionaire who hasn't paid their "fair share." Right Warren??? Lets take a gander at Mamdani's education budget. NYC spends $42K per student per year, 3x the national average ($15K). Highest in America. Florida pays $9K. NYC spends more per pupil than most people pay for private school or college. Its frickn insane. The budget has gone up every year, enrollment has gone down. With all that money only 3 out of 10 kids can read in the 8th grade. Cuba can read better english and they speak spanish lol. So where is the money going? Def not to teachers. but shh, ro doesn't want you to know that. A starting teacher in NYC makes $65K. Mamdani's city spends $42K per kid, runs a $40B budget. You could pay every teacher six figures with that money and have 12 kids per a classroom. But thats too logical. It goes to administrators. Consultants. Overtime. Unions. Friends and family businesses. Pensions for people who left a decade ago. Studies about studies. Buildings that take ten years to renovate. Everyone else but the kids, teachers and actual schools THERE IS ENOUGH MONEY. Politicians decide where the money goes. Teachers are underpaid because of how government spends money. Not because Bezos doesn't pay enough. Then they stand outside a billionaire's apartment with a camera and tell you he's the problem. That's the SCAM. Ro Khanna says tax billionaires to fund $60K teacher salaries. NYC already spends enough to fund $100K teacher salaries. The money's there, Ro. Your people are the ones who won't give it to her. Federal level is the same story. DOE spending up 649% since 2000 and kids aren't any smarter. GAO found $186 billion in improper payments last year. $3 trillion in errors since 2003. It’s criminal. Stop taxing the nurse. No bureaucracy. Just let the woman keep her full paycheck. Outrage is deflection. They'd rather she pay. Because her keeping her own money doesn't fund the machine and they lose the one thing that keeps the whole racket going: a billionaire to blame.

Mr. President, Daylight Saving Time forces Americans to wake an hour earlier than Standard Time and does not create more daylight. Permanent Daylight Saving Time would make winter mornings dangerously dark, with some sunrises occurring as late as 9am. For the sake of public health, safety, and better sleep, please restore permanent Standard Time!

United Airlines is using dynamic pricing This plane ticket says it’s $752. Once you out in the travelers information it says “Based on traveler information provided, the price of your ticket has changed” The price went from $752.20 -> $1,156.20 United see the trackers age was older so automatically drastically increased the ticket price Airlines started holding ‘separate fare buckets’ for different passenger categories. So now for the same seat, you can be sorted into age categories and have your price go up based on what United Airlines says their inventory is for each seat category This is dynamic pricing adjustments It’s only going to get worse if we let this continue
