@jenradcliffe Good friend's mom once told me it's better to have sons than daughters because your son will never say to you, "you're not really going to wear that, are you?"

If you are under 40, you can be a hero. Besides Delia, another friend is alive today because of a donor match. What a beautiful gift this holiday season. 🎁 nytimes.com/2022/11/25/opi…

@rockandrollprof Heartsick about this. A reporter's dream source who became a good friend. Had been looking forward to resuming our conversations about music and movies following his recovery from knee surgery. Condolences to the family.

Dear Friends, Michael passed away from a blood clot on Friday; you may know he had knee surgery and he had been doing well. The clot came quickly on Friday morning, and he died at home. law.uh.edu/news/spring202…

@SchwartzChron Hey, exciting news: It's the 50th anniversary of The Godfather. In theaters this weekend. Dolby sound. Maybe you, Michela and me? Never too late for you to finally see a classic.

@farhip Of course, it's not really "the spokesman" speaking. It's a consensus statement from the president, team of lawyers, VP of communications, etc. But not sure why Apple's so afraid of it being attributed to its official spokesman.

me: "oh, I'm just visiting for a little while. I don't need to pack too much. I can make it all fit in my suitcase." me, two weeks later, after visiting my hometown used bookstore: "hm can I sneak some of these books into my dog's toy basket?"

@moniguzman @xavierbonilla87 It's Australian, goes back to at least the '60s. Paul Hogan's '80s film Crocodile Dundee really popularized it; also, Disney's animated The Lion King and Steve Irwin's Crocodile Hunter series, both in the '90s. As someone below noted, it's surfer slang.

@xavierbonilla87 I wonder how long it’s been around. I feel like I’ve only heard it the last decade or so?

"No worries" is such a funny little phrase. Who wants worry? I don't! Some loose impressions of mine to run by y'all: - It's said mostly in text or email? - It's said mostly with an exclamation mark? - It's said mostly by women?

@lomikriel @mariaramosp94 @PacoGoldman Gay Talese's Fame & Obscurity, AJ Liebling's Earl of Louisiana, Robert Sabbag's Snow Blind, Mailer's Armies of the Night, The Right Stuff, Black Hawk Down, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Wolfe's New Journalism is a nice anthology of the '60s/early '70s renaissance.

My mentee @mariaramosp94 asked weeks ago for recommendations on journalism books/long form. Been a hell ride but one of my fave narrative non fiction is Random Family & anything by Kate Boo + The Art of Political Murder by @PacoGoldman. What recs would you give to a young journo?

@PacoGoldman @ShirshoD John Sack's M is also great. It and Dispatches are the two great literary journalistic works on Vietnam.

Congratulations to my good friend & rock& roll buddy Todd Ackerman, Reporter for the Houston @ChronMed since 1990. He had the higher education beat, and then switched to health & the Medical Center. He is taking early retirement, and will now have the time to write about anything

Administering the therapy too late in the course of disease is akin to allowing a burglar to ransack a home for hours before deciding to call the police. An early dose, on the other hand, has the potential to nip a blooming infection in the bud. nyti.ms/3bm0TiA
