Top Ten Complaints of gamers
1. Predatory Monetization & Microtransactions
What used to be a complete $60 purchase has increasingly turned into a "pay-to-win" or "pay-to-look-cool" ecosystem. Gamers heavily criticize aggressive microtransactions, randomized loot boxes, and expensive battle passes—especially when these features find their way into full-priced, $70 triple-A titles.
2. "Live Service" Bloat & FOMO
Many modern games are built as "live services" designed to keep players hooked indefinitely. This often leads to repetitive grinding and the exploitation of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). Daily challenges and time-limited events can make playing a game feel like a second job rather than a hobby.
3. Releasing Broken or Unfinished Games
The "release now, patch later" mentality has become a massive plague on the industry. Publishers frequently rush games to meet quarterly financial deadlines, forcing consumers to play through game-breaking bugs, severe frame-rate drops, and missing features until developers can slowly fix them months down the line.
4. Excessive File Sizes & Day-One Patches
With games pushing past 150GB to 200GB, a single title can take up a massive chunk of a console or PC solid-state drive (SSD). Compounding this issue are mandatory "Day One" patches that can be just as large as the game itself, meaning players often have to wait hours just to start a game they just bought.
5. Mandatory Online Requirements for Single-Player
There is widespread frustration over single-player games that require a constant internet connection to play. If the player's internet hitches, or if the publisher's authentication servers go down, the gamer is locked out of a campaign they paid for, destroying the longevity and preservation of the game.
6. Anti-Consumer DRM (Digital Rights Management)
PC gamers in particular frequently protest aggressive DRM software, such as Denuvo. While meant to curb piracy, these background programs are notorious for tanking a game's performance, causing stuttering, lowering frame rates, and occasionally conflicting with standard PC hardware configurations.
7. Toxic In-Game Communities & Matchmaking
The social aspect of competitive multiplayer is heavily marred by toxicity, including griefing, cheating, hacking, and verbal abuse in voice chats. Additionally, players often complain about overtuned SBMM (Skill-Based Matchmaking), which forces every casual match to feel like an exhausting, hyper-competitive tournament.
8. Uninspired Sequels & "Safe" Copy-Paste Design
Many players feel that major studios have become risk-averse, opting for endless sequels, remakes, and formulaic open-world designs instead of funding original IPs. This results in games that feel bloated with repetitive "map cleaning" tasks (like climbing endless towers to reveal icons) rather than meaningful gameplay.
9. Poor PC Optimization and Ports
Console versions of games often get the most development focus, leaving PC players with deeply unoptimized ports. Even players with high-end, multi-thousand-dollar rigs routinely face stuttering, poor utilization of modern CPUs, and a lack of standard features like customizable keybinds or proper ultrawide monitor support.
10. Bloated Run-Times with Meaningless Filler
While value used to be measured by how long a game was, many gamers now complain about "padding". Instead of a tight, memorable 15-hour experience, games are frequently stretched into 80-hour slogs packed with mandatory fetch quests, excessive backtracking, and unengaging storylines just to boast a massive world map.

Alright, I just blocked a LOT of "No Disc, No Buy" spam accounts.
Most of them have fewer than 10 followers, and all they seem to do is jump into people's replies and spam the exact same 3 images over and over again.
At that point, this isn't a conversation or a protest. It's just harassment and spam aimed at people who are simply trying to chill, play games, and talk about them.
I'm not planning to deal with this every day until 2028. 😂 I probably can't block them all, but I'll do my best.
I genuinely don't care if you play on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, or your phone.

@Fallout I heard there was a fallout five coming out? I only played the first one and loved the show. Hopefully it’s good and doesn’t jump shark.

If a founder was never good at video games, that's a red flag.
