RIP Rudy May and Fernando Valenzuela. I met both, one was the nicest guy the other not so much. Both were dependable in their roles and the game was better because they were in it.

When I was a midget 11 year old going out for football for the first time I wanted to be a safety because they initiated contact, made it a lot easier to keep my teeth. I looked up to Eddie Meador of the Rams and Pat Fischer of the Redskins.
