On what planet does it makes sense to send our oil overseas when gas is approaching $5/galllon ? Fascism is when the state and corporations merge and ban free speech punishing dissenters. We are there. Instead of building more refineries so we can reduce the cost of gasoline and jet fuel, we are allowing oil companies to export for massive profits. When does anyone put Americans first?

The US national debt now exceeds 100% of the gross domestic product, a once unthinkable threshold that only happened once before, at the end of WWII. This admin is spending $1.33 for every dollar it collects in revenue. The one year budget deficit this year is projected at $1.9 trillion. Didn't they say they would reduce federal spending?

U.S. debt has surpassed annual GDP. We owe more money than we can even produce. There is officially no way to get out of this.

Buying Spirit Airlines would be fiscally idiotic, but you’re also giving up any credible opposition to socialism. You think Democrats wouldn’t love that? Congressional Republicans should just oppose this crap. The cost of not disagreeing with Trump isn’t worth it here.

Grandpa is having a senile moment again. So much to unpack here. First he claims that Spirit was about to merge with People Express. People Express went out of business in 1987. Spirit didn't even form until 1983 as Charter Airlines and didn't acquire its first jet and become Spirit until 1992. Dude doesn't even know what century he's in. Then he claims that if we bought Spirit, we'd be buying a company with virtually no debt. The whole reason Spirit is going bankrupt because of its debt. It has 7.4 billion worth, in fact. He then goes on to say that Spirit's problem is high oil prices. Spirit has been failing for years, and especially last year when oil prices were at their lows. The reason Spirit is failing is because they never recovered their post-Covid budget traveler segment and, as a low cost carrier, they can't increase prices without losing their captured customer base, which means their margins are being crushed. Rising fuel costs are just the last cherry on top. As if ALL THIS weren't bad enough, Trump then goes on to claim that he could "flip" the company because "they've got a lot of good aircraft". One of Spirit's biggest problems is that a large portion of their fleet is grounded because Pratt & Whitney sold them a bunch of dud engines and the frames aren't airworthy. Spirit literally can't even use a lot of its "very good aircraft". They also haven't been profitable in 7 years. Someone put grandpa to bed, he's gotten into the medicine cabinet again.

🇺🇸 The Trump administration wants to use a wartime emergency law to hand Spirit Airlines $500M and take a 90% ownership stake. Spirit has under 2% market share and is filing for bankruptcy for the second time in two years. Even Ted Cruz called it a "terrible idea." Let that sink in. Source: Reuters

@SteveForbesCEO So America is playing the China playbook...have state ownership in the most valuable industries that citizens depend on...do I smell China-based government. Some socialism with capitalism..that is what China does....hmmm!!!
