@RealDianeYap Naw I just don't like the stress of getting all the PTO saved, the money saved, planning, the stress of actually leaving the house and coming back. All in all it's usually more exhausting than it is restful

@EudaimoniaEsq We have three kids. Every year we go somewhere. So far we are keeping it in the US but we do have plans to expand that with our kids.

People are dunking on this as being narcissistic or purely for vanity, and I’m not sure I agree. It seems like a great way to catalogue your travels and big moments. Instead of responding to stuff like this with our own venomous “where are your kids?” and “you’re going to die alone!” quips (doesn’t really change their minds), we should try to gently remind people like this that you can literally do all of this *with kids.* You don’t have to choose. We should be fighting that narrative instead of being reflexively nasty online for updoots.

Traveling really isn’t that impressive. It’s not hard to do. You just go to an airport and get on a plane. It’s not a big accomplishment. Then you go somewhere and you have no responsibilities or obligations and just wander around and so of course it’s pleasurable enough. Traveling is fine. I’ve been to about 45 countries. But it’s not worth making big sacrifices for or delaying real life more than a year or two or anything like that.

@jasmineeazj And yet I'm the crazy one for insisting my daughters cover their asses. Basically, we already know they're women, they don't have to prove it

@KaeleyT She should also be tending to his. I'm pretty sure they've even proved that men need sex to feel connected with brain scans and other research. So to starve your partner of sex is to choose to harm the attachment in the relationship. She can still make that choice, just be aware

No, you are not being abused if your wife doesn’t want to have sex with you. Be serious. Maybe there’s an intimacy breakdown that’s partially your fault. Maybe she’s processing sexual trauma. Maybe it’s physically painful for her. Man up. Stop playing the victim like a petulant child. Tend to her heart and cultivate emotionally intimacy, and see what happens.

I don’t think people were meant to be bombarded with so much stimulus all the time. A grocery store with carts rattling, and the worst top 40 songs from the last 25 years blaring, all while bathed in fluorescent light, is a very unpleasant environment. If people need to listen to a playlist or a podcast to get through it without raising their blood pressure, I think that’s fine.

Stopped wearing AirPods while grocery shopping because it’s antisocial, doesn’t matter if everyone else is doing it, you have to start with yourself.

@Chizitere_xyz Particularly the large men. I'm 6'4 and 230lbs. It's pretty easy to be intimidating without meaning too. Its impacted my work. I work super hard to be laid back as approachable as possible.

Nobody talks about the intense, daily mental gymnastics good men have to perform just to exist in public spaces. The average man spends his life crossing the street at night, staring at his shoes in the gym, and hyper-policing his own body language just to ensure he doesn't accidentally make a woman feel threatened. Men are constantly paying a "public existence tax," carrying the burden of proving they aren't monsters, while society acts like men just walk around doing whatever they want.

What opinion about Men do you have that makes people feel like this?

I remembered a moment before this war… Whenever the Israeli army invaded my town, Beit Hanoun, my friends and I would run into the streets and throw stones toward the soldiers. They fired bullets at us, while we had nothing but stones in our hands. I knew that a stone was nothing compared to a weapon, but because it was my land… I felt that the stone was stronger than bullets. That is why I never stopped. We fought with whatever we had, throwing those stones as if we were defending everything we loved. 💔

Still gathering my thoughts. In the meantime (and I'll get the hazmat suit ready), hit me with your unfiltered reactions to the Sony/Bungie news.

@wolfmiloember @casualblu3 Or hell even announcing D3 alone with nothing else done may have kept more folks cuz then there's hype and a point. Now we are in a spot (including myself) where folks are just used to not playing. So it'll probably take more to get us back and risking getting hooked

@wolfmiloember @casualblu3 Destiny would be higher (probably by a significant margin) if they hadn't abandoned ship for marathon. If they had communicated about the future, didn't do massive delays and had more actual content planned and delivered; probably would have stayed pretty profitable

Whilst it drives the clicks, this isn't a "destiny dead game, marathon bad game" story (that's all people will infer though.) This is a "Sony running Sony absolutely terribly and making fucking mental decisions" story. They massively overpaid for Bungie. Sony have wasted so much money and time this gen squandering an ridiculous market advantage Microsoft has given them, so much so I could see the next gen being much more like the PS3/360 one because of Sony's ineptitude.

Fun fact: If hantavirus ever spread globally like COVID, its 35-40% death rate would be catastrophic. COVID was under 1% and still killed over 7 million people worldwide.

What scares me isn’t even the virus anymore. It’s the fact that millions of people would repeat the same stupidity from 2020 all over again. Mocking precautions. Ignoring experts. Calling everything fake while people get sick around them. Some people are so addicted to outrage and conspiracy bullshit that they’d rather risk other people’s lives than admit they were wrong.

@FrMatthewLC Well and tbh, I forgot that death row is a long thing and with habeus corpus that sentences are delayed for years. Yeah I can't see why death row is more expensive. I still think life in prison is harsher than the death penalty though I see your point about the cost

The question is not whether he deserves execution (he does), but whether we should execute him (we shouldn't). In the USA, executing people does not reduce crime, protect people (at least if incarcerated in more protective prisons), or save money compared to long term imprisonment. Executing people hardens us as a society to others. All systems of capital punishment there are systems to protect the executioner from the deed, showing the recognition of how such acts are bad for them as human beings, even when they agree in principle it's moral. In the US, the evidence & ethics are against having any executions.
Matt Walsh@MattWalshBlog

I am challenging any death penalty opponent — there are millions of them, allegedly — to step up to the plate right now and explain why this guy should not be executed. His guilt is established beyond any doubt whatsoever. His crime is utterly savage and heinous. Tell us why he doesn’t deserve to die. Go ahead.

@FrMatthewLC I'm hard pressed to see how a execution is more expensive than life long care. Would be interested if you have any references for that statement
