He brought 24 fighter planes from Czechoslovakia and several transport airplanes and a bomber from the US to Israel during the July ceasefire of 1948. In the process, Schwimmer violated the U.S. Neutrality Act, forged documents, and, in 1950, was convicted in federal court and fined $10,000. Why would a patriotic, honest, and dedicated man break US law like this? "I believed those 600,000 Jews were going to die," Schwimmer said that had he not done it, there would be a second Holocaust. “We were trying to save a country before it was born.” He later said, “If I had to do it again, I would do exactly the same thing.” The truth about the Nakba and 1948 is that the Palestinians initiated a war of annihilation against the Jews of Israel just 3 years after the Holocaust.
