Awesome news! I proposed and helped pass this in Sacramento in 2019... It's smart policy and moves more units for families. @CirculateSD & @ColinParent proposed this to the state in their most recent report on increasing housing production.

Bonus Law is a major outlier for housing policy in California. It's heavily used, in contrast to more modest recent policies.

Many have questioned whether recent housing reforms in California are showing results. For many reforms, the results have been modest. Bonus Law has been used far more frequently. In 2024, it was used 10X more than all other streamlining laws combined.
